There are loads of maps here

I'd be quite interested in this but I'm currently looking at a London Tourist Map and that is enough for me at the moment.

here's the thing...

Post by Keredrex »

The problem is that Lots of empires, Civilizations, and Wars revolved around the Mediterranean and Maps will get redundant... and there will be little interest... UNLESS you add different Gameplay mechanics... add something to make your map UNIQUE... wether it be with 1 way borders, ranged attacks, bonus options whatever...... but it needs to be seperate from the rest

CC RACERS

Image
It is sort of like circus maximus except for the fact that it is not as limited. Everything will be neutral except for the first few spots. There will also have to more lanes in case of 6 player games. The first few spaces will you cant attack to the side only foward and back but then its like a normal map except with the last spaces as objectives.

WHY: Because circus mazimus wouldnt have been much better if it wasnt as limited.

New map idea - Philmont map

Post by Stoney229 »

Philmont is a 137,000 acre ranch owned by the Boy Scouts of America. It is the world's largest youth camp, as 22,000 scouts, scouters, explorers, and venturers, and scouter families from all over the world come for mountain backpacking treks each summer. I was thinking that it might be interesting to have a philmont risk map (an old overall map divided into 13 sections can be found here), where instead of having adjacent territories, the territiories would be the camps and the attacking routes would be along trails or roads that go directly from one camp to another. In addition to regional bonuses, there could be extra features regarding peaks, staffed camps, etc.

It may also be considered that instead of each camp being adjacent only to camps with a direct trail or road, camps could be adjacent to theses camps where another camp must be passed through to reach. Perhaps this would apply to staff camps only. For example, with these feature Anasazi (in Ponil region) could be able to attack Indian Writings, Cottonwood, Ponil, Old Camp, and McBride Canyon instead of just Indian Writings.

Base camp would be "adjacent" to all turnarounds.

The map would be decorated with photographs taken at the actual sites of each camp, and of course the trails would have to be cleaned up a little to make it easier to see.

What do you think? Give me some feedback. I will only have internet access every few days, but I will check but whenever I can.

I was told to post this idea up here, so I will...

INDIAN OCEAN

I thought it would be kind of cool to have a map of the Indian Ocean, including eastern Africa, southern China, the East Indies, and the Indian Ocean territories. I did a rough sketch of a map. Here's a link:

Image

My friend had an idea of having a circle of one-way attacking territories in the middle, like a whirlpool. I thought it was kind of cool.

I'd like to see this map because I think that, with my friend's idea, it would give the map a unique edge that would be worth pursuing.

Just so we are clear, I'm still working on this. It is just taking a long time to decide on a layout at the moment. I have split many of these places up. For instance Cuba is 3 'countries' and Louisiana Territory is five. If you want an idea of just how much I am breaking the map up.

I'm also adding a lot of impassibles (mountains, rivers, ect) that I will try to have true to the actual geography of the region. However at this point I've decided on more of a mix of history and reality with what is convenient as a map designer, instead of being overly concerned with how things really happened or looked. Hopefully that won't be too upsetting to people.

I'm also ignoring names for the moment. I have names for everywhere, but it is really irritating trying to fit them while I'm still working on layout. I don't know when my next draft will be done.

Weren't you going to use the names of the native peoples for the territories? I find that since these aren't as well documented as modernish territories, you could change them to suit the gameplay more easily.

The Underworld is in Spain? As a guy who was once infatuated by a chick of Spanish descent, I am offended.

j/k, but I agree to the posts that say the Mediterranean is overused. Maybe you should mix real Greece with mythical/imaginary maps, Homer style. (Um, the Greek writer, not like Homer Simpson.) It'd be hard to pull that one off, tho.

New England + New York Map --Draft 2 Beta-- [Vacation]

Post by Whoa its Pete »

New England and New York

Draft 2 Beta"
(Drawn in tentative geographic borders, not final graphics or borders, they will come with the official 2nd draft)

Image

1st Draft:

Image

Original Copy:
http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/8815/originalez6.jpg

Number of Countries: 38
Number of Continents: 7

New Updates:
I added some new tentative borders in. The borders will be the rivers and mountain ranges, but the current graphics are not the ones that are going to be used. I'm looking for suggestions are too which ones I should keep and/or if there are any I can add.

Currently in Development:
Some cool background for the states other than just the plain color, though I must say it sort of does help the map itself stick out from the variation in the oceans and surrounding land.

Any other suggestions are helpful.

Right now, Massachusetts looks too hard to defend for only a bonus of five...I suggest adding some impassable boundaries to help make Massachusetts easier to defend. It has six border "countries"... I'm pretty sure there are some rivers you could use to make it more balanced.

World: Then and Now

Description: Okay so it's a map of the world between the Permian era (Pangea) and now. The continents are kind of drifted off, not attached but not where they are now either. I wish I could scan the sketch I have here, it helps alot...basically the bonuses for the continents themselves are minimal - its the combinations you need to go for. Combinations in my head right now:

Laurasia = North America + Asia + Europe = +4 troops per turn
Gondwanaland = South America + Africa + Australia + India + Antarctica = +7 troops per turn
America = North America + South America = +2 troops per turn
Eurasia = Asia + Europe + India (+ maybe Australia?) = +3 troops per turn
Oceania = Australia + Antarctica = +1 troop per turn

Good idea?

Why?: Its like a Venn diagram version of world 2.1

Has anyone come up with some kind of stadium map. Not like Circus Maximus but maybe a modern day football or baseball stadium.

There's a "CC Park" in production somewheres... based on a baseball stadium.

A map based on the Coagulation stage of Halo2 multiplayer

Post by Solus »

Coagulation Stage of Halo2

Would this be cool?
yes 57% [ 12 ]
no 23% [ 5 ]
another stage 4% [ 1 ]
i don't care 14% [ 3 ]
i don't know what halo is 0% [ 0 ]

Total Votes : 21

I see a lot of cool stages on this game, but I have a divine love for the Halo game series. I just think it would be cool if someone designed a map based off of one of the more popular stages such as Coagulation or Blood Gulch as it is more often referred. I really just want some input on this idea to see if it is worth its salt... so to speak.
