Standings updated...Vancouver makes a move in the West ladder with 2 wins and a tie in the recent batch. Onto our July set of matches.

Hi all...many of you may have already seen this, but my college basketball tourney is taking sign-ups for one more week. This is my favorite tournament that I run during the year. Check it out and jump in if you're ready for some March Madness!!!

standings updated...along with field maps. We're about half-way through the July schedule now.
Chicago remains the league's top team with 39 points, while the chase for the final playoff spots remains tight in both conferences with just a win or two separating the pack.

With the increasing number of deadbeats in this tourney (and yes, I take responsibility for a good portion of that for dragging my feet on this tourney), I've decided to cut the regular season short and go directly into playoffs.

The top teams in each Conference (Chicago in the East and LA in the West) will get first-round byes.
The rest of the teams will square off in a two-match aggregate-goal series with one match played on each team's home field.

The aggregate format will continue until the MLS Cup, which will be played as a one-match showdown using the settings of both teams.

I'll post the bracket tonight and get the first batch of playoff games out.

I don't get it, how come we're playing playoffs when not all teams have played the same nubmer of games of the regular season?

Because with the number of deadbeats that accrued in the tournament, it was going to be impossible for everyone to play the same number of games...some would be getting a ton of forfeit wins. I figure by this point in the season we have a pretty good idea where people fall in the ladder, plus, this tourney has dragged on long enough. Under the circumstances, I felt this was the best solution to crowning a champion.

I'll have to rethink this tourney a bit if I do another MLS league next summer.

My regrets to all involved in this CC event, but I must absolve myself from this website. My marriage has collapsed and my addiction to sites such as this one has played a sizable factor in that. I post this message with a hole ripping through my heart. Please take care to make your relationships a priority, so that games such as this don't suck time away from those closest to you. Many can manage to keep those things in a healthy balance. I cannot. I failed in attempts previous to this, and now have decided to leave the site (and others) permanently, although I regret I may be too late to repair the damage done to my marriage.

I can save this one if you send me the file that you used to keep track of everything. It's almost done anyway.

Ok, I'm going to be finishing this one out.

Games will probably go out over the weekend at the earliest.

I tweaked the scoring a little bit because I couldn't follow how Flex did it. I think this is more realistic now, because the losing team doesn't automatically score no goals.

Round 2, Leg 1 games are out.

San Jose v LA Galaxy already completed the first leg of this round. I've sent out their second leg match, and will do the same for the other matches if they finish up quickly as well. Otherwise, I'll send out the next leg in a week.

I'm sending out the West Semifinals now, LA Galaxy vs Vancouver.

The East on the other hand is yet to have a game go past round 4...

ViperOverLord and the LA Galaxy are moving on to the Finals. He wins the closest match yet, 1-1 goals, 0-0 away goals, 3-2 away points. He's going to have to wait a bit since neither of the east matchups in round 2 have gone to the second leg.

We are now ready for the finals. LA Galaxy (ViperOverLord) v Chicago (mviola).

The finals will be played on Chicago's home map, since the MLS Cup Finals only consist of one game, not two like the rest of the playoffs for some reason.

ViperOverLord wins the finals 2-1 in extra time. Congrats to him!

I win the GA Medal for giving up the fewest goals. I don't have access to Flex's data, and I do not feel like sorting through 800 games to see who was the best scorer.

I was part of the winning team last year when this tourney was triples. So, it was nice to successfully defend the crown!
