So it turns out Age of Realms 3: Mayhem, one of the maps you all were to play on, will not work with 8 players, as in the system won't let me make any games.

So, I've chosen my alternate map for the Hot Top Volcano course: Extreme Global Warming.

The rules now state:

Hot Top Volcano
Conquer Club Map: Extreme Global Warming
Ferocious flying in a torrid volcano, ready to wreak havoc. Some experts suggest massive volcanic eruptions to accompany extreme global warming...yikes.
No Fog

I've made it no fog, which works out nicely because now there are a total of 8 games of fog, and 8 games of no fog. And I'm being nice I guess by having 3 of the 4 games sunny in the first round.

If you have any issues let me know but this looks like the best fix for this.

Best of luck in all your games!

January 26 Update

Our first game has finished, and [player]explor31[/player] races ahead into first place with 9 points.

But we still have another 23 results to compile into our standings board just for this first round (Ancient Lake).

Can't wait to see just how everyone fits in with our unique scoring system.

Here again are the handy-dandy links to all the tournament details. Just click on the words below and, wuallah (however you spell that ) you'll be directed to standings and list of players and games. :D

Interested in taking part in another WC4J Tournament? I still need PLENTY of reserves in

A Chance to Write History: World War III, in which players compete in a hypothetical, player-written plot to World War III. The championship is a best-of-7 1v1 series of games on Random maps.

Quite a few more games have completed, and it looks like our preliminary leader thus far is [player]Serreski[/player], though only by a point.

Three players' names are not on the board simply because they have not played in a game that has been completed and so I haven't added their names yet.

Best of luck in the remaining games of the round!

Since we have a map in which there is a victory objective that can be held to win, I just wanted to remind you of these conditions in the Scoring System:

For those maps in which a victory condition is set, such as Oasis, the player that secures the victory condition gets 9 points.

The other players will then be ranked by number of troops. The player, excluding the winner, with the most troops will earn 7 points. The player with the next most troops will earn 5 points, etc. The three players with the fewest troops will earn 0 points.

Any players eliminated in the game will be ranked lowest, with the player first eliminated ranked lowest (8th place).

Should multiple players have the same number of troops, then the player with the most number of territories will be ranked highest.

Should multiple players have the same number of territories, then the player that took his turn before any of the other tied players in the game will be ranked lowest. The player who took his turn after all the other tied players will be ranked highest.

Examples: Charlie secures the victory condition and therefore earns 9 points. Ray was eliminated. Georgio had 34 troops, Isabella had 55, Peter had 11, Blevins had 30, Ulysses had 34, and Yuri had 49.

So, Isabella earns 7 points because she had the most troops: 55(concerning only the non-winners).
Yuri earns +5.

Georgio and Ulysses both had 34 troops, but Georgio had 15 territories, and Ulysses had 9. Therefore, Georgio is ranked higher and earns +3.
Ulysses earns +1 point.

Peter and Blevins earn 0 points because they had the fewest points.
Ray gets 0 points because he was eliminated and therefore got 8th place.

February 12 Update--Round 2 of Games (Sherbet Island) Begins!

Everything's updated:

The Standings Board (click to view)

List of All Tournament Games (click to view)

You've withstood the first four races of the Dino Domain, and we now enter our second world, the Sherbet Island, where we'll zip through aquatic realms on our little round hovercrafts and charge through sandy islands with gloomy caves. 36 additional points are on the line, and each of you 48 players is still in the race, even if you didn't garner a single point in our first round.

Most deserving, [player]deantursx[/player] finds himself on top of the board after our first 4 games, securing an impressive 28 of 36 possible points. While he's only a few points ahead of our second place competitor ([player]Bunn Ree[/player]), [player]deantursx[/player] is the only player to have won 3 of his 4 games: quite impressive if you ask me!

I've created the first game for each of you: we'll race in the Whale Bay course, represented by the Archipelago map.

Setting everything up takes a while, but I'll hope to get all 4 invites to you by late Tuesday. Tomorrow I'll be busy getting the flowers and all for the lady 8-)

As I've reiterated, each one of you still can win this tournament. I've already noticed throughout standings updates that many of you have jumped over 30 places as a result of just one win or second place performance.

Keep at it!

Good luck!

For those of you in games with [player]vegnagun[/player], I am aware of his inactivity. I have sent him his third and final invite. Should he not accept, I'll get a reserve as quickly as possible, and divide vegnagun's score in half (to keep things fair for those players who have taken the time to play thus far). Since he has 0 points, his reserve would also then have 0 points.

Invites have been sent for all 4 courses (the 4 games in this round). Best of luck to you all!

vegnagun had 0 points. Fyrdraca now therefore will have 0 points.

March 18 Update--Round 3 of Games (Snowflake Mountain) to Begin!

Everything's updated:

The Standings Board (click to view)

List of All Tournament Games (click to view)

We're halfway through the tourney, Round 2 has flown by. Next you'll find another series of uphill battles as you try to exercise as much of your social mobility (if we can call it that) to make your way up that standings board. We'll deal with snow, winter-themed maps, sliding across thin ice and flying through mountaintop forests. 4 more courses and another 36 points are on the line in Round 3, Snowflake Mountain.

50 points is the total to beat thus far, as [player]Great-Ollie[/player] has grabbed control of the board, garnering 28 points this round and claiming victory in 3 of the 4 games this round.

[player]Deng Xiao Ping[/player] moves into second place at 48 points total, while [player]deantursx[/player], group leader after the first round, has fallen to 8th place, going to show how easy it is for anyone of you to come out of the blue, so to speak, and inch closer to that special, cool-looking italicized, bold, and shadowed Constantia font representing our leader.

Just note [player]Leverpuller[/player]'s performances, in which he brought in a ridiculous 32 points (of 36 possible), dramatically moving him from 38th place to 7th place! Nice recovery from a weak first round? You bet!

I'll work on sending out as many invites as I can tonight, and if not tonight then the next day or two.

Good luck!

May 5 Standings Update

Post by WorldCup4James »

May 5 Update--Final Round of Games (Dragon Forest) to Begin!

Everything's updated:

The Standings Board (click to view)

List of All Tournament Games (click to view)

Also, if you want to confirm that the points added on this round for you are correct, you can refer to the previously updated standings board from before the round:
[spoiler=After Snowflake Mountain Standings]Image[/spoiler]

Three rounds down and one to go. Our last set of maps will be part of a mystical menagerie that will take us from Castle Lands to Middle Ages to Flanders 1302 to Halloween Hallows. Don't let the knights, windmills, and ghosts distract you, because it will take a lot to catch up to our points leader at the moment!

[player]Great-Ollie[/player] holds a resounding lead at 76 points; he gobbled up 26 of 36 points available on the Snowflake Mountain, and second-place [player]Just-Jester[/player] remains 12 points behind. It will take a string of miracle perforances to topple Great-Ollie. Here's the chance to show your tournament mettle!

Some additional worthy performances from Snowflake Mountain:

[player]whakamole[/player] launches forward 20 places, from 35th to 15th, after winning 27 points.

[player]offinthecorner[/player] is not so off-in-the-corner anymore after earning 21 points and landing in 4th place. He's now one of the top competitors to tackle Great-Ollie.

These were the top performances I noted, but there plenty more as well. Thanks for your commitment thus far players, and enjoy the last round! Considering winning just one game will land you over 100 CC points and you lose around 20 for each game you don't win, you really only need to win two or three games to make a profit in terms of CC points, even if you don't win the tournament.

I'll work on sending out as many invites as I can over the weekend. I've been fairly busy recently so the invites will probably be staggered again and not all at once.

Thanks,
James

Good luck!

All 4 games for the Dragon Forest (our last round of the tournament) have been created; this means you should have received 4 invites. If you have NOT received exactly 4 invites, contact me immediately.

Thanks guys (and gals?), and good luck in the Forest of the Dragon.
