I see no reason this should be a problem as far as being readable. This is no different than any other map as it goes with size. I will post a small mock up ASAP.

If the large is 656x800 then the small would be 492x600.

Natty is right, I am within the standard sizes... I think fonts can be addressed in graphics?

Well the legibility of the territory names is critical from a game play perspective. Can you post the small map then so we can see how they are? If they are okay, then I'll get with the CA's to see if they have any thoughts and ideas on the gameplay.

I am still hunting out a font, but I am can assure you the small map will be fully readable. I have some fonts in mind..

I like the Rapla font for being readable right now. It works for the small map also.

On that note... What does it take to get out of the drafting area?

rapla and tallinn are both nice and readabble

I'd pick a better font for the small map, its a tad unreadable... but you should know how to handle this properly.

Onward!

And with that said... Next version...

Changes:
Font Changed for all territories, and legend
Rivers made a bit smaller
Added more trees
New Font is much more clear.

To Do:

Correct Bonus Values?
Add More Impassables?

Just a quick few thoughts - this looks a fairly solid map and I'm very happy to finally have a map which will have my own region in a bit more details? If you would also like to, I could try to help you with region authenticity, as not all of them are completely correct.
But... It was so artistically done.

For your current version, I'd make the following changes to your bonus values:
  • West Estonia: +4 or +5
  • West Latvia: +5
  • Central Latvia: +6 or +7
  • East Latvia: +4
  • West Lithuania: +2 or +3

Interesting.. I am going to plug them all into the bonus calc and see what I like.

Well, first of all, in the middle, Alytus should most definitely not be there. Kaunas was the temporary capital and it's still the 2nd biggest city in Lithuania and while I really am not a big fan of it, it should most definitely be there. Switch Kelme to Šiauliai (as it's the 4th biggest city), Zarasai to Panevėžys, Lazdijai to Marijampolė, Ignalina to Utena, Plunge to Telšiai.

Klaipeda = Klaipėda
Plunge = Plungė
Kelme = Kelmė
Liepaja = Liepāja

This is everything that I've noticed, but I'll try to find some time this weekend to do a more thorough look.
But... It was so artistically done.

This might help you to get a bit better feeling on what's where. Also, after another look:

Rezekne = Rēzekne
Kraslava = Krāslava

I think I got most of all, but I do not know Estonia/Latvia quite as well as Lithuania, so I might have missed something.

So I have spent the last few days in a in a redrawing mode. Which is why I have not made a post with a new map version.

This is what I would have liked to keep and gone forward with, but I could just not get anything to work keeping all the green while showing the bonuses. Alas I thought I would show you before I recolor the map into bonuses again.
