Sorry lack...
I think we should respect everyone's avatars. Avatars help identify people's postings, and even if they are not copyrighted, we should avoid copying them.
Imagine everyone using lack's avatar....

first off, i didnt steal the avatar because it didnt belong to anyone. (yes, i searched it) You DID steal it because i HAD it and now you HAVE it...sounds like stealing to me.
Btw, lets see here. on this site, you all seem to not be very good while i am pretty damn good. it seems to me that i have some authority over here. i know i dont have the power to change their avatar, but its just really sad that such a good avatar is being wasted on shit like this.
i thought it was more of a tribute to your awesomeness

A) I seriously can't believe you pulled the rank card.
B) It's your bloody avatar on an internet risk site, not your DNA.
C) You had a different avvy when you joined the site.
D) You didn't create the avvy, thus you have no legal say over who can and cannot use it.
E) If you hadn't created this thread, there would only be one person with your avvy, not half a dozen (or more).
Here's the thing: what's your solution? Rules for avvys? An avvy moderator?
I can understand that it's not great when people cop the avvy of someone in Management, as that can lead to legitimate confusion. But otherwise, what difference does it really make? If you're bummed someone stole your avatar, PM them and talk it out in private. If that doesn't work, then live with it. Or change it. People change their avvys all the time for all sorts of reasons. I've had at least 5 different avvys since I've joined. And before you say, 'but you don't post much, it's a forum thing', reverend kyle has more posts than anyone, and he changes avvys all the time.
Yes, it's an etiquette thing. But as we all know, some people place more stock in etiquette than others.
Speaking of etiquette... Absolute Master, I get your point, but all you're going to do is piss people off. More to the point, you're going to piss off the nice people who volunteer their time to make this site what it is. As someone who enjoys this site a great deal, I would venture to say that intentionally pissing off the people that run and maintain it is a Bad Thing, especially in the cause of something so unbelievably trivial.

whoa, chill dude, im just trying to prove a point. If one person has the same avatar as me its just as bad as 50...it still loses its effect. I dont really see a need to change mine when i had mine first (quote from office space: "why should i change he's the one who sucks!") And as it is drawn to my attention, it seems that more people agree with me then disagree.

Ok, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so I've changed my avatar... I still think moderators should state something about it..

You cant just take someone else's identity just because you want to be them. I think you need to find a different avatar dude, be original! you cant just take mine!
If someone takes an avatar from your webspace, change your own avatar, then change the webspace address to something embarrasing, such as a gay porn star
He won't be too happy next time he logs on and sees that pic next to his name

Oh yes indeed. At the bar it was just in a regular bottle with a cap. Imagine my glee when I found it in the big corked bottle at the store ...
