The friend who introduced me to CC said I should always do that en be polite cause that's the standard here. But mayby he got it wrong and it ain't so normal?

I don't like wishing other people luck... when I really don't want them to have any luck at all.

Very disingenuous.

I am happy to say "hi" or "have a good game"... and when a player is fun and friendly I with say "thanks" or "gg" at the end.

... but never GL or "good luck". Never.

Serious time!

You say it because it's good sportsmanship. Like, in 8th grade, my baseball team beat another team 52-5. We still lined up, shook their hands and said "good game" though.

"Eat shit" could be a good intro.

"Eat shit" could be a good intro.

This reminds me of Duke Nukem, and all the quotes he'd have in his games. A few that might work instead of Goodluck:

  • 'Gonna rip you a new one.'
  • 'Hail to the king, baby.'
  • 'It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum... and I'm all outta gum.'
  • 'You wanna dance?'
  • 'I make [this game] look good.'
  • 'I'm equal opportunity asskicker!'
  • 'I see dead people.'

I am with JB....in 5 years, I've never wished "Good Luck"....its so hypocritical it makes me wanna puke. This is WAR....lol.

On the other hand, 90% of the reason I love this place is my friends in my group with whom I play 99+% of the time, and the real enjoyment is the friendly banter in the chat.

No one in my group will play 8 person Conquerman with me so that is one game I play publicly; the last one, not ONE of the 7 people from the unwashed masses said a fooking work....so typical.

If you expect friendly chat from your average public game I am afraid you will be sadly disappointed :(

I have ALWAYS offered "GG" or "Thanks" when I am fortunate enough to win, by the way :D

As a freemium I have all the time of the world so I tend to say "hi and gl" or the sorts in every game I play. Funny thing, premiums only respond when their dice go real bad :P

I'm premium and I don't talk much to opponents.... I may say hello, but its a big effort with 110 games on...

when an opponents complain about his dice, i just "oh yeah tough luck my friend" only because he wants to hear it.... but I don't complain about dice and I don't like those who do :-({|=

I always try to open the game with "good luck" for 1vs1 or "good luck all" for larger games, of course I'm always wishing myself more luck than any others. These greetings require no typing at all, as it's all saved in the cache, requiring only a simple click on the chat box and then a quick scroll through.

And I rarely complain about the dice, unless it was truly horrendous,or it's a constant occurrence.

Usually I say "Have fun all", but if I forget it, I'll still chat most of the time. That way I'm actually having fun with the other players, rather than only wishing it for them.

It'd be interesting to see someone say "hi and bad luck" at the beginning of the game...

Sorry i am new to the game, a great find i might add..... needed to start somewhere so this is the post.

But i just think it's a nice thing to do... just a quick "Good Luck", or a "well done" at the end.

I always try to say 'Hello and Good Luck' at the start of the game, and then 'gg and wp' at the end if i get a chance.

Just think its politeness however i wouldn't be offended if someone with 50+ games going didn't say anything. It annoys me more when people are completely silent throughout the whole game, even when i try to spark some sort of conversation about what have ya.
