The point is that it's not true and Mohammed had a revalation from a false god.

Prove to me they worship a false god - their god is just as likely and just as reasonable as yours. Here's the deal, PROOF WINS. You do not have a case without it. If you believe in it so strongly, it is probably a case of a God inside of you, one who helps you moralize, helps you make decisions, one who in essence is your conscious and your guardian, however that does not mean he exists in the physical, open world to affect all of us (unless you do it for him).

If I were to decide to call my washing machine a toaster, I would have a false toaster. Following your logic, I should still be able to get toast from it.

While I like the point Jolly is trying to make, I don't like his metaphor. At all. But yeah, don't speak for an entire faith like you know it inside and out. You might not be wrong, but chances are, yes, you are wrong.

Then you don't have the authority or the credibility to back what you say, even the people who study this for a living don't get it all

religion

Post by dracojax »

i think most religions are rubbish and are used far too often to create war and fighting between people who don't like each other. After all if God is good and loves everyone why would he/she want us to fight and kill each other?

Heres the thing god gave us free will to make the right and wrong choices. Many times people make the wrong choices because they many times warp whatever religon they are part of and use it for personal gain.

We have free will to make decisions though and people tend to make bad decisions.

Or thats how I see it.

religion is usually created to explain something humans do not understand (Greeks, Romans. etc..). When people need hope (the jews when they where slaves under the egyptians). Most religion points to the same thing try to be a good person but unfortunately people miss interpret that or twist it to fit there own needs ( Catholics confession box and tithe system). So why fight over it when your essentially saying the same thing.
Everyone wears masks. Music is food for the soul.

Jay i think you might be onto something here

Actually atlantis did exist. The minoans lived on krete when a massive volcano erupted several miles, sending a tsunami into the city. The few who saw the cloud and left told the egyptians, which several years later came into the hands of plato.

We all did buddy. Anybody who believes in God essentially believes in their own personal god, that is, the one who guides them. God is your conscious in the third person.

Because we were created to worship God. Not live a life of self-indulgence. We were created for His glory not our own.

We were all created. Along with ancient bones deep in the ground, corresponding surprisingly well with different varying levels of complexity, usually getting simpler as the ground gets deeper. And each set of bones seems to have properties similar to those found deeper, only slightly, oh so slightly different. In fact, one could go as far as to say that we change oh so slowly over time, and that what is in the ground is what used to be us.

Of course that is all ridiculous since God created us, right? Right?

Newcastle wrote:you know my post was to end the thread but i'm happy to watch you guys prove mt idea right about religion being made for peace but used for hate and anger.

peace out guys! don't kill each other while i'm away! :D

Religion is naturally used for anger and war since the peaceful religions are usually wiped out by more violent ones.

This was a good topic, I laughed, I cried(Jay)
Some good points were made

I would just like to add a few tidbits
GOD is actually an acrynom for Galactic Order of Druids
Elohim(mormon name for god)has links to original Pagan Deities, along with being recognised for polytheistic references(plural gods)
personally I like to call god Makayla(such a sexy name)

Those that bother to read my post know who im supporting in the debate(go Guiscard!)

To newcastles remarks of this leading to violence,it is a debate.
fact that some of us are defending things we dont believe in prooves that this is a disscusion in philosophy.

unriggable wrote:Because the said God is not actually there - instead he is being used as the reason to do such corrupt things.

Also may I remind Christians who are out there that God is not His name - he has no name. The 'God' name comes from people saying 'the God' as in 'the God in heaven must be displeased', because they gave him no name. And that switched a bit...
Allah is not His name either - Allah means 'nameless one' or something along those lines.
YHWH is a standby for a name - Judaism did not want a name either.

Three religions - same god damn thing. They use the word of (I don't want to say God...) to please their wants and desires.

Your God is just as likely as my God, another man's God, L Ron Hubbard's God (funnier if it wasn't true). Just don't be so sure of what you say.

what about (can't spell it) jehovah?

Uh, obviously they believe the Cross is theirs. And they like making movies about people on Crosses and getting tortured.

I'm glad you noticed my sarcasm. Hopefully.

Religions can't be disproven. They're like conspiracy theories. When somebody gives proof they A. change their argument or B. say "well its all part of the conspiracy!"
