the obvious difficulty of reading the names has been pointed out. Again this ma has potential it needs to be spaced out though to attract people to play on it. its really cluttered.

*suggesting a beige background to represent the sand/soil/earth.

*split the rugs up and connect lines with sticks or leaves (just examples).

*drop the symbols at the bottom of the map and use them as symbols to represent the rugs rather that using the A,B,C method.

hope that's helpful.

I'll go ahead and say that Native American related studies have always fascinated me and I appreciate what you are trying to do and the culture you are representing with these map ideas. I am very impressed by the nice matching of names with appropriate 'artifacts' instead of just random Indian stuff on top of random Indian stuff.

The problem here is when we get to turning these works into playable maps. Readability becomes an issue, albeit a correctable one with some sort of text glow effect.

I think we need better bonus names then A-B-C-so on... Probably not very hard to do. Most of the background art has names and people could learn those with time. Also you could just make up suitable names and then use sort of a box identifier like World 2.1 or Seige! does.

That's enough for now.

Toronto, Canada

Not Very Experienced (or likely, good) At Making Maps, but I wonder if anyone would consider Toronto, Canada as a good city to divide into a map? it naturally has 6 parts to it, (North York, East York, York, Old Toronto, Etobicoke and Scarborough) of varying sizes. It has the possibility of 1-2 island territories, and is a large enough city to have quite a few neighbourhoods in the larger areas, while dense enough in the small ones to be able to divide them up. Its suprising how parallel they can be to the continents of the Classic map.

thoughts?

(also, I am aware that all Canadians out side of Toronto hate it)

Can you finish it by next week when I'm going to visit there? :lol:

I'm from Ottawa so I especially hate it. But, it is Canadas biggest city, and I'm a bit interested.

I would like to suggest two maps. Both I don't have pics of, but still good maps.

Firstly, A DragonRiders of Pern map. Done using the maps from the first few books.

Secondly, a Kohona Battle map, dividing the Village Hidden in the Leaves into many different parts.

I don't think its a good idea, because not all natives use the dreamcatcher or making them. Now you put them all in one line. And they do not deserve that. They all have there own culture and religion....

Also the gameplay isn't good enough.

The use of tribes is a good idea. Your execution is not. Try using a real map where continents are areas where tribes really were located

Great idea, edbeard. I decided to scrap this idea and do something just like that.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Thanks for all the feedback.

There is alreay a Map idea on this Forum. See:
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22586

I'm working on it, with colors and borders. So if you have suggestions of that idea, please help me and put it in that Topic. Thanks.

And biotxlub, maybe we can work it on together. More ideas are welcome and I've got plenty ideas. So let me know?

I saw the map in the Portuguese thread, I suggest replacing Braga Sul with Porto and Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia.

OK...let's try a second time!

HALLOWEEN HOLLOWS

It's almost that time of year again, and this would be a good marketing map if implemented before Oct 31.

I'm sure this is one map that everyone can have fun with.....trick or treat. :P

And guess what....it only has 37 terts on it.

CONCEPT

This is a simple RISK attack map with a few twists.

* Some continents are linear
* Other continents are non-linear.
* Different attacks are contained in the RIDDLES (rather than legend)
* You have to figure out the riddles :) (they are very simple)

Continent lists below:
Name Number of Terts.
* Dragon Head 5
* Witches Way 8
* Spider 1
* The Woods 4
* Animal Abodes 5
* Graveyard 7
* Death's Door 4
* Innkeepers 3
Total 37

Things that fly.....there are 6

If anyone wants to work on the bonuses or the XML, please PM me.

Enjoy! :D

Ok i solved the riddles :wink:

my biggest concern its identifying continents im finding it a little difficult with the idea your going for. These something im not sure about with the image, but im sure what that is if you know what i mean.
