How about a capture the flag game with two small flag continents on either end... anyone who has both flags gets a +55 continent bonus and thus wins.

How bout a map of Dune? has that been offered.

You would only be able to attack to certain places if you had enough spice territories. I think that would be cool!

All right, let's say it's two flag continents with four territories each. In a three player game, that's a one in 8^3 chance of having all of the flags in the first turn; multiplied by a 1/3 chance of getting the first move this yields a one in 19,683 chance. Three flags with three territories each would make that number 59,049. And for a four-player game those numbers would be 262,144 and 1,048,576 respectively. Considering there have only been 372,180 or so games so far in the whole of Conquer Club (that's assuming the game numbers are telling the truth) I think the likelyhood of this happening even once is small enough to ignore, let alone of it happening to the same person twice.

from your first post i understood there are only 2 flags. getting 2 terits is really common.

if you put more flags then the whole conquer the flag feeling is kinda lost.

Well, I think it's workable.

Another idea:

You basically put two identical maps on one map, and then make them light and dark, so they represent day and night, or, underworld and overworld.

Then you make connections between the dark and light map with some kind of icon.

It could work in a fantasy setting, or in a realistic setting. For example, you could do New York city and the overworld is the land, while the underworld is the sewers and seedier side of things.

You know those Hollywood STD charts you occasionally get in the trashy magazines?

Made me laugh, anyway.

I am not computer savvy enough to even begin to create a map. I have been daydreaming though about a sports themed one. Mainly a hockey rink, with the end zones, neutral zones, circles, etc, as continents.
The idea of using the Stanley Cup floated in my head too...kind of like King of the mountain, but in a larger scale.
The hockey rink isn't exclusive either...a baseball diamond or football field could be used too.
I like sports and playing a sprts map would be pretty cool IMO.

Just ideas...

I love these books too, I'm sure they have a huge following. I might have a look into this next week when I'm back at home.
I'll have a look for a good map we can use.

its hard work for maps to reach the standard required for cc and requires a lot of effort from tireless cartogrophers especially considering the fact that they make maps for fun (even if it can be stressful) on top of their actual jobs and . unless you find someone who knows the books and is willing to put in the great effort required, it is going to be hard luck, good luck though in your quest

Just ideas...

This could be feasible, having multiple sports arenas and connecting them.

Like a hockey rink, basketball court, baseball field, football field, soccer field, etc..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockey_rink
I see 7/8 zones there - 5 different faceoff circles and either the two sides of center ice or center ice and the two sides of the rink...

Basketball court http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_court gives:
the key/paint on each side, the perimeter, and the center jump ball zone for 5,

Baseball diamond http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_diamond gives 9 if you go with the standard defensive positions.

Soccer field http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer_field gives:
center circle, penalty area, goal area, and possibly corners. This is fairly similar to the basketball layout so maybe redundant.

Connect the multiple sports arenas in different ways and you've got a potentially interesting setup; the overall theme could be something like a "sports park" or whatever.

if done with territories listed in all five books, it could be a great map.
a lot better than some that are up.

consider it.

Has anyone ever suggested a map of Augusta National Golf course?

Not sure how it would work, but just an idea...

You've got par 5's (13 and 15), hazards (sand and water could be a bonus), clubhouse, etc.

Just a thought...

I'm too stupid to make one myself, but I would think something like:

18 holes so 6 bonus' of 3 holes each with 13-15 being the biggest because they have 2 par 5's in them (a par equaling the number of occupied territories)...

Par 3's being 3 spaces (tee, fairway or water, green)
Par 4's (tee, 200 yard marker, 100 yard marker, green)
Par 5's being 5 spaces (tee, 300 yard marker, 200 yard marker, 100 yard marker, green)

Much like Alexander's Empire or 2.1 - there could be neutral areas between holes...

Just an idea...

a golf course map would be fun and original... are you thinking one-way? One-way would make for some messy, Curcus-Max style game play, but it would be true to the theme.
