OK I changed the bevel and added the new credit. I also looked at the accents from the original map. I think I got them right. If you see anything else please let me know =)
Thanx

MrBenn although Lone Prophet did the original graphics, Dolomite13 re-did the map from scracth, but sticking to the original color scheme. I'm fine with whatever the hell you want to give the credits to, I just want this map up already.
Unit has been the 'project manager' I guess you could call it since day 1. And although I had a base to start with, I re-did almost the entire XMl. (Although I did take a lot of help, this is my first xml after all) Dolomite like I mentioned above, had to re-do the graphics from scratch.
Although the.killing.44 did help a decent chunk, it was mostly comments about small issues that needed fixed, like the tones, font ect. I don't consider that much involvement, but call it what you want.
For the record I meant no disrespect to anyone that posted prior to page 45. I never read through all of the previous posts, except for page 1. I also realize some of the things I said before were a bit out of line, which I apologize for. I was stressed out at the time by constantly being told everything I did was wrong.
I'm very happy that this map is finally getting somewhere. If the newest graphics by Dolomite are deemed OK, I'll re-do the co-ordinates and once over everything again to make sure it is correct.
Then *hopefully* we can venture into Beta.
Thanks everyone for the involvement.

Great job guys. It finally looks like this map is going to make it.
I have a few graphical remarks on the last version.
- The frame around the legend is too black for me. It's the most edgy lines in the whole map, they could be a bit less eye-catching. Also, the legend seems a bit 'deep' now, if you know what I mean. Maybe less of the ocean-fade thing? (I'm not good at graphical vocabulary... Sorry.)
- I think the Montérégie army circle is too far from its name. How about moving it all the way South? Maybe the Estrie circle could go up a bit to compensate.
- For Iles de la Madeleine, which is a small region after all, maybe it would be better if the region name didn't cross the land (or did so less than now). Move it up a bit?
- Some army circles could go inside the region where they don't, which looks a bit odd in certain cases. For example, at St. John's, it looks like the circle has been stabbed by the ocean
Maybe the Nunatsiavut, Halifax and Gros Morne circles could be moved a bit aswell? - I've only just noticed... Isn't it strange to have both a "St. John's" and a "Saint John" region on the map?
- I'd switch the army circle from Gaspésie with its name. But that might be just me.
- Finally, I don't really like the title colour... Maybe it's taste again, but if anyone's with me on this, speak now or be forever silent

I know some of this may require coordinates changes. But I'm just trying to make this a better map

Please consider before you make up your mind!

Perhaps Dolomite could play around with the army circles & names a bit to make them fit better? I never noticed some of the issues you brought up saaimen, so thanks for the post.
It does seem odd where some of the army circles are located compared to the name of the territory they belong to. Cape Breton seems the most out of place, A simple reverse of the circle & name should fix it.
The St. John & Saint Jonh's issues has been brought up before, but I personally think it wouldn't be much of an issue because they are rather far apart. The only way I could see this being a gameplay problem would be on the last few turns of a game trying to eliminate the last player.

According to Unit, there is nothing else in that area to rename the territory to. He knows the geography WAY better than I do, so for now I guess they'll stay the way they are

"St. John's" (Newfoundland) could potentially be renamed "Avalon Peninsula" to clear up any confusion with Saint John, New Brunswick.
The Army circle for Monteregie is a bit far from the territory name. If it were place directly above the territory name, a bit lower than the Montreal circle, I think it would be clearer.

On the other hand, the Saint John region could be renamed Fundy. Maybe both changes could be used so neither one of Saint John/St. John's wins over the other.

OK here are a bunch of changes... how are we looking?- "St. Johns" changed to "Avalon Peninsula"
- Cape Breton text and unit circle swapped positions.
- Monteregie army circle moved closer to territory title.
- Played with the color depth and darkness of the key and added a very slight texture to the black lines of the key in an effort to lighten them slightly.
- Iles de la Madeleine title moved slightly to allow more of the island graphic to show.
- Gaspésie text and unit circle swapped positions.
- Adjusted placement of many unit circles and names slightly.
- Softened all territory border lines slightly.
- Changed logo to a slivery-white sort of slightly metallic look.

Great job, dolomite13!
Only one new thing I noticed now. You say you softened the borders, huh? Well, the one between Baie-James, Saguenay and Caniapiscau looks a bit blurry right in the middle, where the three regions meet. Maybe it has something to do with the mountains (?) in the background.
That aside, this looks awesome!

there has been good progress here.
notice that the borders of outaouais and lanaudière look a bit straight and ugly. that's because i originally drew them to demonstrate the proper connections, but they're not the real borders, which are too awkwardly-shaped for our purposes. is it possible to put a few minor squiggles in these particular borders to make them less artificial-looking? there's nothing wrong with the other straight borders, such as for minganie, which really are like that.
elsewhere, the first é in montérégie looks a bit different from the second é and i continue to dislike the s in est du québec.
unless i'm mistaken, a majority of canadians would be hard-pushed to locate the avalon peninsula without prompting, while they'd almost certainly know to look for st john's in newfoundland. however, i don't intend to argue too much about it, especially as avalon pensinsula is a correct name for the area. the only alternative that i can suggest is for the xml to show
Saint John, NB and
St John's, NL, which is more cumbersome than the current xml (and not everyone knows the provincial abbreviations).

Updates - I went over borders in an attempt to make them uniform, less blurry in places and softer in other places.
- I tried to make the borders of outaouais and lanaudière look a bit more squigglly
- I looked at the é in montérégie and they are the same it appears it's because one is over color and the other over black so I moved the title a bit to try and make them look the same.
- I took that accent mark off the s in Est du Québec. I cant find an example where an accent mark is on that term anywhere on the web. If someone can find me the right accent mark I can put it back.
- unit circles on the large map are now 24px by 24px and 20px bu 20px on the small map.

There is no accent on the French word "est", meaning "east". So you're set now. Excelsior!

Alright, I fixed up the co-ordinates the best I could. There's still issues with the army circles, but far less than there was before. Infact, to me, the large looks 100% correct.
I did not finish the small version co-ordinates because the circles are weird, read below.
Dolomite the problem I'm having this time (on the small version), some of the circles seem lop-sided. I'm not sure if it's possible with the program you're using, but if it is, take the Nunavik army circle, which is perfect (to me atleast) and replace all of the other army circles with it. For the time being, I wouldn't touch the Large version as it seems correct.

*For those who take the time to check each circle: Please, please name specific territory circles that look incorrect rather than just saying "Armies are not centered". This makes things ALOT easier fix on my part.

For the record, all of the co-ordinates that are atleast within their army circle I played around with for over 2 hours. No matter what I do, I can't get the off center ones to look correct.

I will look at them again this evening ... I checked every one and they were all 20px x 20px ... but I will check them all again.

I checked every unit circle on the small map and I assure you every one is the exact same size. However because they are transparent they all react differently to being over various colors of the map. So there is an optical illusion that they are different sizes.

Alright, I'll finish up the xml then. Nunavik looks perfect but I can't get very many of the others to look right, I'll post tomorrow night sometime.
In the meantime, any more feed back? It seems to be low now days but I've only heard from 3 or 4 people since the latest graphical update. I'd also like to hear from a Cartography member about the co-ordinates on the large map.

i think that numbers will look better if you move all them 1px up (large version)
