I did what I could to pull Phoenix out of the cellar after joining late as a replacement. This tourney was a ton of fun, thanks Spidey! You did a great job, I know it was a lot of work. Count me in for next season!
Good luck in the playoffs all!

I'm with ya on that. I'd really like to get in on the ground floor instead of mid-season on the next one. Great success with this one, really hope you do a season 2

the playoffs will start soon, maybe even this weekend. I will start off with doing up the first 4 games, home games for each team and then add more games if need be. I am looking at doing another season but probably won't be until the new year, which makes sense as we still need to get these playoffs underway.
As for next season I would like your opinions on a couple of things.
1. I plan on doing up games every 2 weeks and only doing them once. So in other words, if you don't join your game in time you lose that game. Good idea??
2. I am planning on putting in ties, using a set amount of rounds, that if a game goes over that many rounds it is considered an OT lose for the person who wins and a win for the person who wins. How many rounds should it be, I'm thinking 10 rounds, maybe 12 or a little more. Let me know what you think.
3. The home map thing, I am wondering if we should allow one home map per conference or division. ie. if buffalo has classic map as home map, should no one else in the northeast division be able to have classic or should the whole eastern conference not be able to have classic. Which do you think would be better?
4. If we have to change the maps, I was thinking of doing it like the hockey draft. The worst team gets choice, with the presidents cup winner, getting last choice, unless they win the stanley cup.
Anyways, let me know what you think on these items and if you have any other ideas that might make the season more fun and enjoyable.

1. I definitely think that this is an excellent idea. If you didn't join in 2 weeks - you effectively missed the plane/bus to the arena. This hurts non-premiums the most. So, you might have to make it Premium only.
2. This is a difficult question to answer. I had a fair number of my games go over 10 rounds - I also had quite a few (early on) that were over in 8 or fewer. I think 12 is a better number. I also think every game should be worth the same number of points. (I.e. a Reg Win = 3 Pts, an OT Win = 2 Pts, an OT Loss = 1 Pt, and a Reg Loss = 0 Pts)
3. We have plenty of maps to choose from. I think it was fine as is - mainly because the length of the season caused so many people to drop out. If new owners couldn't pick their maps, they might not join.
4. As for drafting of maps - I like your proposed system. So effectively a map is that shiny new rookie everybody wants to draft. Alas, there's really no need for this as new owners get to choose their maps - although I suppose you could limit it to once per division (might sway who the replacement owner is or who they want to replace). Whoever wins the Stanley Cup should pick last - just after the other finalist. On up to the semi-finalists (reverse order of Points). The only problem I see with this is that new owners effectively get the first picks - as old owners would have dropped off. There might be some old owners who replace playoff teams, but very few
5?. I'm actually going to disagree with myself here, but I think that since many times a new owner is replacing someone who lost a lot - you need a bonus system for new owners. If you come in and play at least 41 games, half of the previous owners Reg Losses are converted to OT Losses. This at least gives new owners a slightly better baseline for trying to come back. NOTE: the old owner's win percentage has to be < 50%

oooh I like that idea Aerial. I also like your scoring system you set up there, I think those could really be key in swaying a new owner. Makes me already eager to get in at the ground level of the next season.
Oh and also the Philly Flyers defeat Ottawa in game 1228752
Bring on the play-offs

So, apparently you would rather face me? Well, considering my recent 1 v 1 streak - that might not be such a bad thing. I blame it all on you (and
the clan b_st_rd: Night Strike).
Good luck against Invincible. I know I'll need some against my opponent (ivok or keiths31).

Well it's been "real"
Just finished my last game on a high note against the Canucks.
The Ottawa Senators win game 1228750 vs. Vancouver.

well almost all of the games are in except la's games. which causes a problem as 3 teams have a chance of claiming that last spot. Vancouver, Dallas, and La. LA needs to win all of their games to make the playoffs. Vancouver needs to win 1 game to make the playoffs, but with both of them being against LA who hasn't been showing up to their games, it looks like Vancouver will win both games and be in the playoffs. So it is all up to Ontjets09 and whether or not he joins his games. Playoffs will start next weekend for sure, unless the LA games get played before then, which it isn't looking like is going to happen

If not can I co-direct?

well I should just turf him now, as he hasn't responded to my messages. or I could let sensfan take his spot for the last 8 games.
Sensfan you can be part of the 07-08 year. but that won't start up until the new year.

I really like these ideas except for #2 - I think that's a bad idea... if for no other reason than it discourages players from playing a full game...
Plus, the NHL got rid of Tie Games for a reason and in CC, you either win or you don't. I don't think this will encourage anyone to play quicker (is that the purpose?) because we'll still be gunning for that extra point.
And it is discouraging to win a game, but your opponent still gets that point (especially with some tight division & playoff races we had this season).
I just don't see the point of having to figure out Tie Games. If you win, you win - why put a limit on the # of rounds?
OTOH, i think having a seperate "HOME" map for each team is a GREAT idea - there are plenty of good maps on CC to go around now and it will mimic the feeling of the real NHL in that every "Arena" is different.
The "Map Draft" is also a great idea.

ok folks, the regular season has come to an end, Not all of the games have been played but the ones that make a difference in the playoff positions have been. Vancouver won 1 of their 2 last games and thus make it into the playoffs for the final spot. So I will be making up the first 4 games for each round and sending those of you in the playoffs messages. for all of you who didn't make it there is a second season starting up in the new year.

I am not complaining about my number 2 seeding but surely i should be number 3 and tampa bay should be number 2. TB have won more games but it looks like the table is a bit misconfigured.

no it is not. Florida and Tampa are in the same division. The top team from each division is assured of the top 3 spots in the Conference playoffs, then the rest of the teams are re-seeded based on overall standings. Spidey used the same ranking system that the NHL uses.
