How the hell do I get screen shots?

I tried putting a DVD in my laptop and pressing the 'printscreen' button, but it doesn't seem to work -

What you do is you hit "Print Screen", then you paste it into MS Paint or some othe image editing program. Then you crop it to just have the movie image and save it. Then you upload it to an image sharing site like Photobucket. Then you take the link (the one w/ the "img" code around it) and put it in this thread.

Man it sounds like a lot of work. Never seems that way when I do it tho.

Yeah I tried that, but when I pasted it in MS Paint it just came up as a black square - I tried multiple times -

I think I should pass it on

That used to happen on my Win XP, not sure why.

VLC is excellent. Once you've cropped the image, you can upload it to BayImg if it has nudity or blood and guts - no registration required. They're not always up tho, so you can also upload to TinyPic if there aren't any naughty bits - also no registration required.

It actually takes a little bit more effort on Windows XP especially when using printscreen with DVDs. I'm on Win 7 for a year now so I don't have it quite memorized. So I just dug up my previous post from some time ago

I forgot what it's called, but it's like the clipboard or something. It's basically where the info for the things you "copy" get sent to. Or something. Or not.

So yeah press PrintScreen

Then open MS Paint and go to edit then select paste

This also works with MS Word.

The tricky part is if you have video/graphics acceleration, the picture won't "Stick" to the clipboard. So you have to disable the acceleration.

Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> advanced -> troubleshoot -> then move the slider to "none" in the Hardware Acceleration slider section

If you don't do this and you PrintScreen with hardware acceleration, the picture you paste will be like a "screen" or a window or a hole. If you press play on the player, the image in MS Paint will still play the movie.
