Yes, I'll be checking scores tonight and once a game is decided, I'll start the next round even if the early game still has a map or two in process.

Marquette Pulls out a narrow margin victory over Columbia in their matchup.

We split the games.

Round 7 wins for Each
Round 9 Wins for Each
Over Round 15 wins for Each.

and the deciding factor.

A round 9 win for Marquette in comparison to a 13 for Columbia...

NIT bracket is updated...Stanford and UTEP are the latest doing battle in the quarterfinals for a trip to Madison Square Garden.

I keep forgetting to finish out the conference tourney finals...will check into that tonight (tying string to finger, now)...also will be updating the NCAA bracket after work tonight.

Wow, close, but doesn't it matter which positions/players maps got those rounds more then just the rounds? If it was a point guard round 13 vs a bench player round 9 it would be a very different story.

UCSB eliminated in the second round of NIT. Had a very up and down season, concluding with a nice upset win in the first round over 1 seed ohio. Thanks for running flex! can't wait for next year.

I know that I am a perennial worrier, but I think this time it's for real. Toledo's run, barring some amazing luck will be coming to an end. This round of games was just ... wrong. I won't even bother trying to turn this one into the parlance of the sport. I will just tell you what happened in plain old CC terms.

The games are here:

So, it starts off VERY well for me. Almost unfairly well. Out of 8 games, I got 6 (SIX!) first turns. "Wow, as long as I play this right," I'm thinking, "I'm on to the next round." But it was all downhill from there ...

Starters:

Game 10989065 - First turn on my home map. Probably will go my way, but too soon to tell for sure

Game 10989071 - This is where the ridiculousness starts. He goes first on his home map, takes out 3 territs with a deploy of 5 and secures a bonus that is impossible for me to break with my deploy of 4 and unlimited reinforcements. Game over after 1st turn.

Game 10989077 - Actually able to turn first turn into a clear victory early on this one by taking a round 1 bonus.

Game 10989078 - First turn for me here, my drop of 4 takes 1 territ and does little else. His drop of 4 takes 2 territs, a bonus and still prevents me from carding on the next turn. Wow.

Game 10989079 - First turn advantage. 5 troops to deploy and I take ... wait for it ... 1 troop. That's not a territ. That's a freaking troop. No card. Unbeknownst to me, he has been handed a bonus to start the game off. I manage to break it once, but the next turn lose a 7 v 3 allowing him to keep it again. I'm now down 2 cards even though I went first. Ouch.

Bench:

Game 10989074 - His home map again, and almost the exact same thing happens. He takes the same unbreakable bonus in the first round. I try to break the bonus and can't even card. Game over after first turn.

Game 10989076 - First turn for me. Yea! Unfortunately, my dice have been mediocre and he has since secured a bonus. We'll see if I can break it. Too soon to tell but looks like it's his advantage.

Game 10989063 - First turn advantage on my home map. This one could be in my favor, but it's way too close and early to tell.

For those of you keeping score at home, that's 3 starters and 1 bench map that are just crazy bad luck. In an 8-game series, I'd expect 1 or maybe 2. But it's pretty much impossible to come back from 4.

I won't say my goodbyes just yet, but I may not be long for this world ... ummm, tourney I mean

LaSalle goes down with a loss to Purdue, 88-69. Despite having split the game count (4 games each), Purdue got some quick wins and won more of the starting player games. Excellent series, fantastic tournament, and I look forward to playing it again next year.

We have just over half of our Sweet 16 filled out, congrats to coach jon_snow on keeping his #15 seed Georgia Bulldogs alive in the tourney.

I'm sending out the last of the 3rd round matchups in a moment and will send the available Sweet 16 games by Monday morning.

Also, in the NIT Stanford is the second team to reach Madison Square Garden.

brackets are updated...and a few more of the Sweet 16 matches have been sent out. As far as the 3rd round goes...Toledo leads Boise State 44-43 at halftime in the closest battle going at the moment in the East Region.

#11 Cornell routs #7 Georgia Tech 90-63 to be the first team to make it to the Elite 8.

Cornell was a #1 seed last year before losing in the second round.

Couch U Suck was in the final four 2 years ago when he took the struggling Oregon State Beavers from a group of deadbeats to a bunch of winners.

Cornell could be a tough out the rest of the way given the stiff level of competition they faced on a weekly basis in the top ranked Ivy league.

This game was never that close. See above.

I'm officially out of here. It's 85-62 with one bench map left to finish up. Thanks for the tourney, flex. It's been fun. Albeit an extremely disappointing finish.

Way to go, Clifford!

Ivy is 8-3 (presuming hard fighting Cincinnati does not pull a fast one and snatch victory in the waning moments).

Purdue (Annexator) and I just had the craziest set of games that included a 19-turn classic Classic matchup that saw Oceania exchange hands a full four times, and a mind-numbing dicefail on each side that flipped the game. Princeton's Coach will suffer a life-ending coronary if the rest of the tournament is so drama-filled.

Great tournament Flex thanks for running it. Looking forward to next year.

Georgetown gets destroyed by Illinois in the most one sided set of games I've ever played. He has 6/8 starts and started with an unbreakable bonus on numerous maps...even dropping on bonuses on several occasions. On top of that my dice were just flat out brutal. Oh well. Congrats Mizzou.

It was a battle and made the tournament all the more entertaining! The beauty of it too was that Robes regular season bonuses came into play and may have made the difference. Good times and looking forward to next season already.

still need to update the NIT and such, but the NCAA brackets are updated and most of the Regional Finals are set. Those games will go out tonight.

#1 Princeton vs. #15 Georgia in the East
#8 Duquesne vs. #3 Washington State in the South
#1 Illinois vs. #11 Cornell in the Midwest
#2 Oregon awaiting an opponent in the West.

Congrats to all who have cracked the Elite 8
