I love the way CoF's wonderful post was just passed over…

Im already getting a summer sausage and a box of those caramel clusters, though they are a bit overpriced IMO...
Everyone is free to come up with their own ranking systems, there has never been any issue with that. When the CLA was first getting into the swing, there were several ladders being used in flux and at the time the RPI system seemed like one of the more reliable ones. Obviously things have changed, so perhaps we need to revisit the topic. COF brought up a great point that ladders arent the same as rankings, or seedings, etc. But there does need to be a concrete "formula" of sorts to figure out how the clans rank, because i believe that a popular vote does not do justice for all the clans because there arent enough people educated on ALL the clans of CC. Sure, the Top 5 are pretty all similar in everyones mind, but after that there is a big grey area that cannot be decided without having seen a sample of games between a majority of the clans.
I look forward to what COF brings up, as a handicap system does make sense to me as i understand it as a golf concept, but do find it difficult to put on a group of players in a clan, with the issues of limited resources, changing rosters, strength of opponent, etc...

Re: Perception of TOP CC CLANS by Years
I think most people mistake rank and power/force of the clan.
THOTA is no doubt #1 clan, but their performance in 2010 is not that awesome in CLA so they might be ranked lower than #1. TSM went inactive for half a year (or close to) so they might drop their rank as well, but their level and professionalism is undoubted.
Such rankings show active+successful clan. Not the best. And being #1 in RPI doesn't mean you are the best clan. Winning CLA makes you best in CLA format, but as a whole clan in all of its aspects.

Then why aren't we #1? Aren't we undefeated this year—Division 1 winners…?

How about your other challenges? Seems like that loss to O&H made you a huge step back. I wonder if you leap back to #1 if that challenge were to never happen.

But this was a 2010 ladder, I thought.

O&H and LOW finished in 2010.
Eg, here is one of the quads games from the challenge

Re: Perception of TOP CC CLANS by Years
So we spent two and a half months in 2009, and one in January 2010, and it counts as a 2010 challenge?
Re: Perception of TOP CC CLANS by Years
RPI tracks by when challenges are complete and not by individual games. I cannot track single games, not reasonable.

Re: Perception of TOP CC CLANS by Years
I never said anything about single games, I'm talking about when the challenge was started/the majority was played.
Re: Perception of TOP CC CLANS by Years
Either way, I'm not checking all the games of a challenge to see when they all started and finished.
If I made some assumptions around what was more in 2009, I get
The Odd Fellows Union
Immortal Assassins
Legends of War

I wish Chuuuck had answered this already in his most recent post in the Power Rankings thread.
Oh wait. He did.

ok, thx, I know 2 was ran this year, then another in December, so on average once every 4 months. I was thinking once every 6 months, oh well.

It will probably be about every 6 months. The first one this year was only to accommodate the conqueror's cup and really wasn't a ranking because we didn't include all of the clans.

Yes, I plan on drafting a new PM this week asking for votes from clan leaders again.

Well, this is going to be tough. A pity TOFU were not to play THOTA this year.
