usernamer wrote:i would like to be a mentor. skill rating thing 3 as i can hold my own against majors / colnels. am normally major. if i play games im better at, can go up to colnel, if i play too much doodle assassin, can go down a little.

Strengths:
World 2.1 and team games - dont have any real weakenesses which i couldnt mentor on.
how would this work though obvious for team games - but for rest, is it just general advice or giving a range of suggestions for them to choose from, since if u gave specific advice on a situation, it could be unfair if someone thinks they're playing say a new recruit but they're effectively not (depending on how much advice is given/acted upon)

Even specific advice would leave a lot up to the player over the course of the game. but the player could announce a mentor, similar to when someone takes turns for another. :)

I would also like to help. I am about an average player 2-3 rating or somewhere in between. I have played about 50 games winning almost half of them. I am also taking the SoC training course which is one of the things that I would recomend to any new player.

I think that this is an excellent idea. A lot like the A-A sponsoring program but with out the vices. Lol.

So how does this work anyway? Do I pick a name from a list or is there some one who assigns the new members to the mentors?

A straight reward for participation might be too much and too complicated, but perhaps a competition based on mentor ratings or something of that sort? Also, would not hurt to offer a medal to people who do a good deal of mentoring.

Perhaps some kind of a point system award to the mentors by the mentorees. It could be made known to the mentoree that his participation in the rating of his mentor is important and by rating his mentor, he also qualifies for a medal or reward himself. That kind of info would be most helpful to CC in maintaining a quality of mentors.

I also agree with you that feed back and comments responses and reply's and back and fourth communications is the heart of winning any war or achieving any goals. After all, we only get out of thing, that which we put into it!

I don't know if it is proper or not, but if anyone at all wants to contact me for advice, for my "2 cents" worth, please feel free to PM or write on my wall. Incidentally a discussion on any one's wall would be to the benefit of anyone else who reads it but if you are "shy" then PM me instead.

If you're mentoring people or getting mentored, then keep it up.

I'm good at fog. For the effort of teaching you I'd like payment in coin however.
