This town... Anyways, good luck. And (finger) to whoever wanted to lynch my mom - she's a very pleasant and nice lady!

@ Mandy:

Well, I did state that it's my opinion - and never said I was unbiased. I tend to have very strong opinions about most things - which doesn't necessarily mean that I am wannabe intellectual (as you sort of implied) or don't value others' opinions. Au contraire, I respect and value most opinions and my arguments due to tend to be based on logic and rationality. However, that doesn't mean I will be afraid to debate or argue something that I disagree with.

Chapter 1: I didn't expect a documentary and I doubt most people did either. I do like at least some authenticity and not blatant disregard/mockery to the facts. What you answered wasn't my point.

Chapter 2: Again, not my point. Furthermore, no need to go aggressive and throw insults. I've always campaigned for good education and I still believe (call me naive) that a general population can be ingrained with right values and I at least hope for *SOME* movies that would campaign for that. It seems to me that in the last 5 years (can be argued for more or less) there has just been a huge influx of mindless movies and too few movies that actually stimulate your thinking, question something or lead to better morals/ideas, etc. I understand a need for a good action movie and I'd be a damn liar if I'd say I've never enjoyed one - but I still have some expectations from them, so I guess I need to apologize for that.

Chapter 3: Really? Where have I stated that having different opinions is bad? I thought we were actually expressing them and debating...

Chapter 4: Each to his own. I've seen much worse, but I really don't think it was that great. As far as criticizing art - I don't see that movie as a piece of art. I see it as a blatant attempt to exploit consumerism, capitalism and public mindlessness. In general, I really do like and respect and like art, but not everything posed as art actually is art.

That's up for debate, my friend ;)

I didn't really see it as having anything worthy of such hatred in it. [Personally, I found it to be decent...neither exceptionally good nor exceptionally bad]

Just a few to things (some are quite subjective):
1) It sends wrong messages to both the audience and to the producers. Producers are encouraged to concentrate on effects and actions and largely ignore everything else because that will give you profit and good reviews. The audience gets accustomed to movies that leave you dumber then when you came in which have absolutely no thought in it and nothing worthy to take away bar that killing is good, mmmkay?
2) While this may not be true for a lot of people, I hate to see mockery of historical facts and places. I loath to see such misrepresentations especially because it misinforms a lot of people. While not intentionally, a lot of audience isn't very bright and may take this as actually something worth a damn... When this is not the case.
3) I think the cinematography was terrible and acting went along with it. Granted, I do think there were a few good performances/actors, but in general, that movie seemed extremely lacking in these areas.
4) The hype for the movie and the reviews make it worse. I wouldn't be this upset if this movie would have just disappeared after getting bad reviews - no, people keep bringing it up as a good/solid movie and now there's a sequel in place. I see this is a great reflection of what's wrong with Hollywood, the audience and in a way, our society in general. Granted, there are much worse movies, but I like to highlight this example as it's placed so high in a Pantheon of Movies.
5) There are other things I dislike, but I don't have time nor will to write on.

Granted, I realize I'm a Sisyphus moving a boulder right now, but I had to post it. Feel free to attack and rip me to shreds

I agree with all these points but I must play a bit of devil`s advocate. The movie did give us some great memes and in a way defined internet culture for a period of time.

uuuh i loved 300 too, but with all the fan service i just realized it wasnt the making off of an editorial for playgirl magazine

oh you shady french man, i only make you watch "zombies/creepy cute" rom com's on valentines *sighs*

Anyway i think in the last 5 years some amazing, funny, moving, beautiful and/or thought provoking films have seen the light, just out of the top of my head i can think of "Amour", "The sessions", "Life of Pi", "Hitchcock", "Persepolis" (ok not exactly new, but timeless), "No" (2012), etc... i find myself going to the cine more often than ever, even "the conjuring" was a good experience, i am a huge fan of horror movies, and it's been a while i have seen such a nice exorcism film.

Fircoal wrote:The first day of Cinoville scum hunting was a long and tiring one. It started out with a hoot but as the day rolled on the minccinos got more and more tired. Some couldn't think straight and started attacking each other. Some of the onlookers who that this wouldn't do. How would they be able to find scum with good discourse and logic. It was then that one of the cunning cinos came up with a brilliant plan. "Look if we can't solve this like Minccino's. We'll solve this like a terrible reality TV game show!"

The Minccinos put their hands to their chins and thought about the proposal. They all thought that this would be a good idea. So one by one they listed their preferred lynchee on a piece of paper and submitted it to a box in the center of the town. The box was then turned upside down and each which way. The mayor of Cinoville grabbed the box and one by one and took out the votes one by one. Quickly one of the more eager Minccino grabbed the votes and started reaidng them outloud:

Commander
DoomYoshi
Commander's mom
DoomYoshi
Commander
Caffeine
Commander
DoomYoshi
Nebuch
Nark
Rodion
Commander
DoomYoshi
Iron Butterfly
Commander
Talapus
DoomYoshi
Skoffin
Talapus
Commander
JamesKer

If any cino was keeping count it was now obvious that Commander was the lynch of the day, narrowly beating out DoomYoshi 7 to 5.

The mayor went to Commander, who was now standing in the center complaining about he was lynched when it should have be the great and faboulous mod Fircoal who should have been lynched. The Mayor would have none of that, and Commander was quickly tossed into a pit of Buizels.

The town lamiented the loss, and investigated the home of Commander. There they had found the truth.

Commander9 (Miracle Matter - Copier) has been lynched.

NIGHT 2

You all have 72 hours to get in your actions!

I actually kinda like this format. Pushes the game ahead, votes are private until read aloud. A lynch will happen (unless the majority is no lynch). Maybe I'll host a game with this format one day.

Problems include: not being able to defend yourself when on the chopping block, not knowing who voted for whom, and I'm sure a few more I lack the time to come up with...

Well, now we got the fun part out of the way. Got rid of someone blocking a lynch, but still towne..?

Talapus, I am unvoting you. Just so you know. I don't know you aren't mafia, but I'm not as certain you are anymore.

Vote Shadowstar. (if I can do that yet) He has not posted a ton and is probably under the same role as Comm9, as well as nark.

However, if they are freed from their Restrictions now, then I will take that back. But until we get more info as for who we should lynch or whether or not PR is change, my vote is on him.

Umm... Its night. So probably 1) cant vote or 2) give input on how you feel about a player :D

Well, one is right...two, though...you can still give input on how you feel about a player...like the weird one...he's an annoying bastard that doesn't know what he's doing. That's fine...I think the better phrase would be "give productive input" For even better, though, I'm sure you could find something on the rules list, if I recall the chu's game rules, correctly.

Really you shouldn't be posting GAME related stuff at night, but anything else is fair game. Although really, unless it turns into a large Day fest, I probably won't get worked up about any postings.
