that's because the small map image which i updated here: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3371590#p3371590 has not been uploaded yet. when that goes live there should be no problem.

i'll send a wall message to tnb80 to remind him.

Ahh okay...Sorry about that. Assumed the latest version was in the quote.

Sorry today I missed that updated image
I was discussing about the xml fix (more important) with zimmah and I didn't noticed it.

Sent to lack right now, but I don't know if the image will be uploaded before or after the announced maintenance.

no problems, thanks tnb80.
it's really a rather minor issue so i don't think it really matters if it's updated before or after the maintenance.

I'm playing some 1vs1 on it. I really like how it works. Nice job!
The "fractured england thing".....it doesn't convince me at all, but the good gameplay compensate for it. :)

Btw the small image was updated (to be honest it happened the 23rd, but you said it was a minor issue so I didn't post ... )

it turned out surprisingly balanced including for 1v1 games.

perhaps that is because of the massive feedback it received - pre analytics

of course. it's just that i'm a bit surprised especially for the 1v1 which is probably the hardest to balance.

personally I find the steam / engines just about never taken. At least in the games I have played. Seems wasted to me? How can this be fixed?? Maybe reduce one of them to a 1 instead of a 2.

what? i've never seen this happen. why wouldn't somebody take a bonus? and they do what they just deploy and attack non-important terits?
that's absurd.

wait, my bad, i actually saw this happen on 2 occasions where i was the only one to go for engines/steam while the other(s) kept attacking my troops on non important terits. on both occasions i won proving that not going for bonuses is wrong.
but i've never seen a game where nobody goes for bonuses. that's not strategy. it's like a lottery. you just pray for good dice and don't bother with tactics. who on earth would do that?

what are you talking about?

i just looked at those games.

in Game 9757162 green took a steam in round 1. and you went for an engine in round 3. also in round 3 green took an engine. you cashed in and conquered more neutrals. then in round 4 green was kicked for violating the rules and the game ended. but still both of you went for the engines/steam.

in Game 9760217 the opposing team took an engine from round 1 and the game is still in its early stages so probably by the time it ends more steam/engines will be conquered.

if the steam/engine gets reduced from 2 to 1 neutral then somebody could easily conquer one of the smaller islands right from the start and then if it's an unlimited forts game secure that bonus and basically win the game. that would completely destroy the map for 1v1 games.

not sure if i understand the rules completely, nor have i read the hole forum post, but as i would understand it, if you have a steam but not an engine, then you lose 1 army right?

i don't think that happened in this game.

Game 9802792

maybe i'm wrong, but in case you'd like to check it out.
i was planning on trapping pink with the steam and getting him a -1, instead, i could have gone for the bonus.

EDIT;
after reading the rules a few more times i see now that there is no problem other than my comprehension skills.
disregard my concern.

Game 9882620

Lindax owned Cumberland and Westmorland in the final round of the game. He had more steam than engines. Why did he get to deploy 3 and not 2?

Am I misreading something?

he had 1 steam and 1 non important terit but he had NO engines.

the negative bonus only applies when you have at least 1 engine and more steam.
read the last 2 sentences in the legend.

It is a nice looking map, but 1vs1 play is really just a battle of dice. There is some strategy trying to block your opponents path, but there is really no time to take neutrals to build bonuses as everything is connected to everything.

Just my opinion but there is very little to do but roll 6s.
