I think the problem is that this is (To my knowledge at least) the first revamp of an existing map, so the procedure is still a bit confused. But since lack is getting back soon, I think Keyogi should check with him and get his opinion. Maybe then we can get this up on the site.

The foundry process states he has to reply to me with a reason not to do it or with the change before the map can be quenched.

Then I can counter reply as long as I want until we reach a resolution or until Andy says one of us is completely off their rocker and forces a decision. If Andy never does that I could effectively filibuster the map so that it never is quenched. I like the map, so I wouldn't do that, but it is something happening in the Doodle Earth area that's preventing it from getting final forge.

I don't see how saying he prefers it another way isn't a reason not to do it, but so far he has completely ignored the suggestions as far as I can tell.

However he doesn't seem to prefer it without circles from this statement:

I completely agree.

The reason the armies seem to spoil the map, and they do, is because they don't look like they belong. They are like plates without place mats. If we add the place mats, the circles, then it will probably look better.

Granted not everyone has place mats at the dinner table, just like not every map has army circles. But I'd like to see this at least tried, or hear that Keyogi doesn't want to do it at all. Hearing nothing is the only thing that really irritates me.

Bactria Overlay

I know it's late in the game but on the big map the overshadow of Bactria and the number kind of bump unpleasently. Is there anyway to just drop the right side a little so that they come off of each other. The Near East does the same but thats a wholly different situation (much smaller area) and it doesn't look bad there.

It's not such a problem in the smaller map because its over lapping more and not as striking from a GD point of view.

I never played the old map because it looked so bad but this one is great and I can't wait for it to be ready...

Sorry for my lack of response to the thread recently, I've just been extremely busy lately and don't have much time for the map or anything else for that matter.

I originally had army shadows on the map (see p7 for an example) but they were cramped in the Near East and some other places before I even put mountains in. Cyprus was cause for some confusion because the army shadow basically covered the whole island and made it look a different colour. These problems were all on the large map so would have just been exagerated on the small. I made the decision then to get rid of them early on.

I'm not sure what you mean JupitersKing. The number in Kabul over the Bactria label?

lol I think people start discussing foundry process in a map's thread, it is time to QUENCH!

And I agree- it's better w/o the army shadows.

Honestly this thing looks as done as it can get. Let's get the monkey-man some bananas and get this thing to play! I've been waiting for this to be done for so long, I'm rather excited to see my map in a new light.

Good to hear SPrime, :)

Keyogi, lets see the regular large and small gameboards.

And if you altered the original placement of the coordinates, lets see images with the coordinates centralized. :)

I mean, any objections aside, there's not a single person who can say that this map isn't better than the version we're playing on currently.

hey- whats the holdup in here? this thing shoulda been up long ago. i mean, the map is beautiful- the brightly coloured numbers simply clash, but there nothing that can be done about that...please just get it up. i want to actually try the middle east map 4 once.
