So, I had a rough weekend and needed a diversion, so I opted to pick up Europa Universalis 4 now instead of waiting til later. Lots to learn about the game, and it is mostly learn on your own since the tutorial is pretty minimal. But I'm working my way through a first playthrough...and its been pretty fun.

I decided to opt for an unusual and more difficult first playthrough---Manchu, in the Far East. I'll post more about my Manchu game in the Longest Thread.

How is EU4? I may be purchasing it in the near future (I'm almost done with WWE 13).

I like it quite a bit. It occupies my time now, since unfortunately this old laptop can't quite handle the new CIV 5. EU4 luckily isn't so graphically intensive, ha.

In terms of gameplay, it ditches a lot of the annoying or, hm, tiring aspects of CK2--like being unable to easily go after large swatches of lands, and that at times tedium of managing a dynasty. The 'sueing for peace' system is pretty fun. You can not only claim regions you occupied in a war as part of a peace settlement, but you can have the other nation 'release' other nations if they integrated other countries into their empire, to effectively really break down an empire. You can also make sure they annul defense treaties, give you gold, trade power, convert, and a number of other things.

I haven't quite got a real sense of religion and trade in the game yet, but the diplomacy system is pretty enjoyable. The sheer amount of nations in the games makes it fun to decide where I want to play. And I love trying to create ahistorical worlds, or seeing those worlds unfold.

In my first game, I played as Manchu in the far east. I took over Korea, and half of Japan, and colonized Siberia, and fought two massive wars with Ming / Zhou Chinese empires at different points in history. England never colonized the new world, and the USA was essentially French. Japan's shogunate was overthrown by peasants and a republic was created.

I didn't play the demo before buying, just watched some Lets Play video. But you can always check out the demo.

Now I'm playing as the Papal States in my second game---once again looking to play ahistorically. I'd really like to have papal colonies in Africa after I unify the Italian peninsula under the Kingdom of God.

I'm playing as Ming right now. The year is only 1524 and I've already dealt with all the hordes in east asia, Tibet, and most countries in south east asia. In a foreseable future I will border India to the west and have swept the east free of all countries except Japan. They're harmless really because they have no land connection with me. Having a four times as big navy as them makes sure I have them in my pocket. And I have a royal marriage with them as well. I will squash the muslim world and soon the west will shiver when they think of me.

I purchased it yesterday and hopefully will have time to play this weekend. I'm about halfway through the manual and it looks like the gameplay changes they've made since EUIII are good ones.

I've played 34 more years now and unfortunately I now have a border to the north with Russia. They have been colonizing large parts of Siberia and chose to colonize a region next to me, something I was very offended by. But I had to get a royal marriage with them to try to prvent them from joining the coalition against me. It's a little unnerving that they have a higher land force limit than I have, and we're even on manpower. I have really invested in my military might so technology wise I'm actually a litlte ahead of them. But still, if it were to come to blows and I had to fight against them plus other nations, I wouldn't have a chance. So here's hoping they will never join a coalition against me and we will stay friends forever....... Which if you have played the game you know is veeeery unlikely.

I've thought the same thing.

Earlier today, I reset my game after having baked a little over 10^15 cookies. Now I'll do it all over again, only faster.

Thinking back, Pokemon Snap's worst violence was throwing a rock at a electrode to make it blow up. And so many unlockables.

FYI, it came out when I was in grade school. Same with Pokemon Blue, Red, and Yellow (where you could have pikachu follow you). But, haven't really followed it since. Did have the original Pokemon Stadium. That, along with Blue or Red, you could some cross over if you had the right parts for the N64 controller.

Good times.

I've been dinking around with CardHunter for the last few days. A nice little browser game that is free to play. Which means there is of course microtransactions and a club membership, but CC is a better buy in terms of that value I think. Ha.

But still fun to play around with.

I havent reset yet as I want to get the end game ones before I do. But he has added a few more since I started :/

I got the Neverclick achievement pretty early on. This run I want to go for Base 100 and probably Upgrader as well.

cookie clicker has been running on my computer for the past 3 days or so. gotten to about 2*(10^14) total so far. such a dumb game, but oddly intriguing.

Yeah pretty much.

I think im currently @ 4.5bill cps. Got stuck at ~500m cps until antimatter update came out. No idea what my total is. Most recent achievement was 200 cursors and 50 antimatter iirc.

5.12*10^9 CpS ~60 hours after the reset, but the game has not been running all the time. Considering leaving the computer on overnight. Should be able to afford Get Lucky update. Worth spending money on Elder Pledges for farming golden cookies at that point.

Grandmapocalypse is beginning to freak me out. Checked computer screen for flesh tendrils. No sign of them. Yet.

Left computer on overnight to produce cookies, noticed a faint smell of dough in my room when I woke up. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. Best not to take chances, leave an offering of milk and cookies next night. CpS now higher than human population on earth. Not enough, the kitten still seems displeased, weird how noone else seems to notice him, kittens wearing suits are not that common. Made extensive use of the Elder Pledge, greatly increased production through golden cookies. Grandma's demands are getting increasingly unreasonable however, may have to deal with her permanently, only need a buyer.

it is unwise to appease the grandmatriarchs IMO

you can make mad bank off of the red cookies. plus you are more likely to get cookie chains, which help you get the cookie achievements faster.
