As well as the name of the region Puget Sound is a "sound" (A narrow stretch of water forming an inlet or connecting two wider areas of water such as two seas or a sea) in Washington and part of the Salish Sea and a very complex system of interconnected waterways and basins, with flowing to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean. The Puget Sound extends approximately 100 miles from Deception Pass in the north to Olympia, Washington in the south. Its average depth of the sound is 205 feet and with a maximum depth is 930 feet.
