I will check the xml and gladly add any of the required tags. No need to hold this map up if we don't need to!

One thing: you have SR Kraj bonus listed twice so I removed this part of the code:

Code: Select all

<name>Kraj (SR)</name>
<bonuses>
<bonus required="1">2</bonus>
<bonus required="2">2</bonus>
<bonus required="3">2</bonus>
</bonuses>
<components>
<continent>ZSK Kraj (SR)</continent>
<continent>SSK Kraj (SR)</continent>
<continent>VSK Kraj (SR)</continent>
</components>
</continent>

Because a few lines earlier you have this code,

Code: Select all

<continent>
<name>ZSK Kraj (SR)</name>
<bonus>2</bonus>
<components>
<territory>ZSK</territory>
<territory>Kúty</territory>
<territory>Nitra</territory>
<territory>Trenčín</territory>
</components>
</continent>
<continent>
<name>SSK Kraj (SR)</name>
<bonus>2</bonus>
<components>
<territory>SSK</territory>
<territory>Žilina</territory>
<territory>Banská Bystrica</territory>
<territory>Lučenec</territory>
</components>
</continent>
<continent>
<name>VSK Kraj (SR)</name>
<bonus>2</bonus>
<components>
<territory>VSK</territory>
<territory>Poprad</territory>
<territory>Prešov</territory>
<territory>Košice</territory>
</components>
</continent>

I have also added the required tag for the collection CR bonus. I also eliminated the starting positions as that is what seems to have gone on here.

That said, here is the newest and complete xml: http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/11/14 ... 8/Frag.xml

Last Call

The map has passed through rigorous gameplay and graphics examinations and all major concerns have been addressed. The XML has been written, checked and stmaped, so if you have any other concerns, please make your voice heard.

If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any reasonable objection or protest, the map will be stamped and submitted for the Beta period.

Please, post questions and concerns if any.

Oneyed do you think it is clear which region is part of the CR and which region is part of the SR? I don't know if the details on the map explain it well enough.

Possible solutions:

A line to divide the SR and CR
Labeling for SR/CR in conjuction with the border line
Unique outlining for SR regions compared to CR regions
Explaining a SR kraj is composed of 4 regions and a CR kraj is 3 regions.

I know this is somewhat explained by explaining the kraj in the SR and CR boxes but I wonder if it can be more clear for people that are not familiar with the map.

You could also just wait and if it goes live see if there is confusion for people or not.

The two small minimap don't help for that? I know that they are not very visible but personally I can distiniguish easily the border between CR and SR with the colors and their shapes.

I have to say that I agree with this. The first time it took a bit to understand what was a kraj. Like you said the explanation is there, but it's not 2 seconds thing; you need to look at the bottom right legend and after excluding every thing that is listed into there, you can find out what a kraj is.
Actually I think that understand what a kraj is (from a gameplay point of view) the weakest point of the map.
I never said a word about that just because the map is visually simple and there're no extended legends, so it takes just few mins to study it.

P.s. @ Oneyed, into the OP leave only the latest big and small version posted as images, everything else could be posted as links instead of using spoilers. It will take a lot less to display the map. ;)

ok. I followed your advices and did some changes. in the text is written:
Kraj - coloured REGION and 2/3 Towns inside its border

and I add names of Czech Republic and Slovak Republic to map (in big one, for small one I added on CR/SR)

[bigimg]http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/8490/840x80001.png[/bigimg]
[bigimg]http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/9213/630x60001.png[/bigimg]

maybe this could helps. thanks guys for advices.

I prefer the version without the names tbh.
The explanation works great!

To add only links use the [url] tag, for example.

Code: Select all

I edited the first post so you know how to do it in future. O:)

me too :) .
but there could be two reasons why have them:
1, they made clear where is CR and where is SR.
2, when you look at background map (and Czechoslovak map is its component) each state has its name written there.

but have them on map or not depends on how much the names help to identify CR or SR...

We can try the version without the background text for CR and SR and see what happens.

I'm just thinking about a new player. If they take a colored region and two towns inside of it they may think they have a CR bonus but really they are in the SR and only have two/three towns that they need for the bonus.

I say we try out the pg. 35 version and if there is a problem in beta with people knowing difference between CR and SR we will know then and adjustments can be made.

I was thinking....did you tried to have a darker continuous outline for the two countries, just a bit?
It could be another solution, less invasive than the names written on the background.

what about this? I like this the most. I add more opacity to small CR/SR map in upper right and bottom left legend. just is text in CR/SR legends readable?

Oneyed, everything in the large version seems to be slightly out of focus. The small map is super sharp and lovely to look at. Why the difference?

Better, but Hungary text looks darker than Germany, Austria and Poland. Apart from that, nothing looks untoward now. Looking forward to playing.

Can you darken the text in the mini boxes with the SR/CR images behind them? I think it will be easier to read.

no. they will not fit with the rest text. I lowered opacity of small maps of SR/CR.

Can you lower it more? The main problem I see is the word "Towns" in the Kraj description the CR box

A question...you started with the small map and then you enlarged it to obtain the big version?
