I want to see the sword of truth map up here, I think that theres enough fan base that it would be worth while, heres a link http://www.tor.com/sites/sword_of_truth/gifs/map_lg.jpg

Woo, I love that map. I love the series too, I think it's great.
But another map I would like to see is the Demon Child trilogy map or the Hythrun Chronicles map (they're the same map).

How about Mhu Thulan? Every game needs Lovecraftian (or, more accurately Clark Ashton Smith) goodness.

would anyone want to make a Checkerboard map? heres the concept; you can only attack diagonally, unless theres a checker on that space, then u can attack in any of the 8 directions.

on a 64 space board, there could be anywhere from 12-16 checkers.
.

you would get continent bonuses based on the number of rows you own ie, +2 each for first 2 rows/columns owned, then +3 each for the next 2 owned, etc etc

or the rows could be individually appraised based on how accessable they are (ie: how many checker pieces border them)

ideas?

Other than that, just look into any countries or regions that haven't been or aren't in development.

I'm surprised France and Spain haven't been done yet. As for novelty maps, how about the animal kingdom? Continents can be Birds, Mammals, Fish, Insects, etc.

France and Spain are in progress.

Seriously though guys, either look in the ideas thread or come up with something you're gonna be passionate about making and interested in! We shouldn't have to tell you what map to make (thats what the ideas thread is for!)

How about an Istanbul map? The city connects two continents Asia and Europe. Bosporus and Golden Horn divides it into 3 main regions. The Prince Islands may offer a variety to the map.

you can only attack diagonally, unless theres a checker on that space, then u can attack in any of the 8 directions.

im pretty sure that is not possible. you need to set where each country can attack in the xml beforehand. it cant change.

I don't have a picture of Istanbul. I'm really a novice regarding such issues like maps, pictures etc., but I'm sure you can find many resources in Internet.

I'd rather see a chess map... all the squares would be territories, and some would have chess pieces on them. The open squares can only attack adjacent spaces, but the pieces can attack any square that that pieces would be able to move to... bishops diagnonaly, kings adjacent, rooks up and down rows and columns, etc. No bonuses, but some spaces would be far more valuable than others.

the checker pieces would be permanently set in their places, part of the design. like in the BeNeLux map, the capitals don't move, they're just there. each square would named like a coordinate; F3, D6, etc. you just set the XML to however the board ends up being designed.

Not Sully, it was me. Yeah, I just havn't had the time to work on it, and I think it still needs some work, maybe some rearranging of the 'continents' needs to be done. Check the map out here: Chess Map

anyone think of doing the wheel of time by robert johnson yet that could be interesting some one with enough imagination could even include the lands not typicly shown on the book maps
another good one might be a song of fire and ice from george r r martin
