Due to some horrendous refs. Columbia gets upset by Dartmouth at home.. In the first half alone, the refs fouled out 3/5 of Columbia's starters and although they have depth.. A comeback proved to be to difficult. This marks Columbia's first loss in the conference

THE SLIDE IS OVER!
The Loyola Marymount Lions ended their winless steak today with a win over the Portland Pilots. After busting out the gates to a midseason ranking of 5th in the country, the Lions are mired at the bottom of the WCC/WAC conference due to an embarassing 10 losses in a row.
Coach Good had this say," I'm not sure what happened there. We came out to compete every night, but just couldn't get a win. We had really high hopes considering how well we were playing in the beginning of the season. But then it seems like there was a lid on the bucket, and nothing would fall for us. Our opponents prepared well for us, and they executed when we didn't. We need a lot of help now if we even want to think about the dance."

TCU stuns #25 Utah with a final score of 80-67. All 5 of Utah's starters fouled out in the first 3 minutes, thanks to the refs (who now are currently being investigated by the NCAA).

This result is hardly suprising to the embattled coach of the pathetic Pilots. He recently uncovered the illuminating information that most of the squad thought they were just extras in a flashmob video, and not actually playing basketball for "keepsies!".
Coach has requested an immeadiate exorcisim..... (this being a catholic school and all!)

The conquer club refs strike yet again.. Princeton upsets Columbia in what was the most ludicrous spectacles of what was supposed to be a basketball game.. I think the Refs were betting on the game. and they had some spread.

ALERT, ALERT, ALERT!!!
With the tournament process closing in, I wanted to get this notice up.
I've decided to change the postseason format for the March Madness tournament to make it 1) more like what we played during the regular season and 2) more transparent.
The original scoring formulas break down armies won, cards, etc and can be difficult for players to follow.
The new format will be basic Win in X rounds get X points.
The description is below (power-ups are still in effect, see definitions below).
Of course, if I get hit with a bunch of objections I will reconsider, but I think this change will make the tournament process more enjoyable and easier to understand for all involved.
REVAMPED FORMAT
The tournament will be played under a seven-map format with each map representing a different player — 5 starters and 2 bench players. Here are how the maps will break down.
Settings for starter maps: escalating, chained, foggy
PG — Classic
SG — Netherlands
SF — CCU
PF — Triple Alliance
C — USA
Bench #1 — higher seed's home settings
Bench #2 — lower seed's home settings
Power-ups:
Star players get a bonus for winning their maps (5, 3 or 1 points)
6th man gets a bonus for winning their map (3, 2 or 1 points)
Sharp-shooters allow a coach to replace one of the starter maps with their home settings from the regular season.
Here's the scoring tables that will be used for the March Madness tourney.

I like the general idea of the change. Purple section needs to be updated to "13+ rounds" instead of "12 rounds or less."
Can you clarify if the "Star" and "6th Man" power-up bonuses each apply to a single map or to all 5 starter maps for the "Star" and both bench maps for the "6th Man?"

good questions...I'll update the color coded chart...If you earn a star player bonus you will be able to select which single player you wish to designate as your star, so it counts for one position.
Same holds true for the bench spots and the 6th man award

Some upsets at the top over the last week have allowed Iowa State (22-4) to move up a few spots and take over the #1 ranking in the RPI for the first time this season. Congrats to dcc1220...standings and team results are updated.
We are entering the final week of the regular season...Game 30s will go out Friday and Game 31s on Monday.
After that, I will be posting the conference tournament brackets as they become available and games will go out as soon as they can be made. Remember, winners of each of the conference tourneys will earn an automatic spot in the March Madness tournament. Conference tourneys are played in the same format as the regular season (3 maps) with the higher seed playing on their home court. Brackets will follow the real-life format for each conference...ie, the step-ladder bracket used in the Big East

This guy missed turns last game and now this game--no wonder Syracuse has such a shitty record.
Players like this are a waste to a great tourney.

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, and is interested in an MLS soccer season...I'm looking to fill out a few teams.
Each franchise includes three CC players.
