I've been looking forward to this map for months and months now. Well done Ruben, you've produced a beautiful map for a beautiful little island.

When you resized the image, were your country names still text layers? They don't look a little smashed / blurry in some areas. When I resized my Italy map, I had to play with the font size & I took the italic off so it was more legible.

Your sea routes are also very cool. And your compass reminds me of the nintendo nes controller.

Ok I have just finished my last exam and I can focus a bit on this hopefully.

I have text layers and in fact I enlarged them a bit for the small map when I resized them. That seems the maximum size that I can use to fit them on the map. I think I also sharpened them because they looked better with that effect. Do you think I should do something else to them?

Btw my compass as Keyogi said is the George Cross and Malta was collectively awarded the George Cross for bravery in World War II.

The gamepad/controller is the George Cross awarded to Malta for WWII.

You might want to look at the size of those army shadows on the small map though, they seem a little on the small side. :)

Thanks Keyogi. I will see how the army shadows look when I update the XML.

AndyDufresne wrote:Ruben, would it be possible to soften the edge of the impassables? Right now, the hills look placed on the map, as do the mountains (the trees I think look pretty good). Would you be against blending them into the land a little, to make them apart of the map, rather than sitting on top?

I will work on some effects and see if I can improve them. Those changes will be in the next update I post.

Your text layers look good enough for me. I know I had to do some adjusting when I resized my map. It wasn't as easy as just "change image size".

Time ago, I suggested Ruben to transorm the insland of Kummuna in a special territory like the space stations in Space map, but I never had his feedback about my proposal.

He did answer you. (page 5)

You did not bring up any strong reasons for a change and he liked it the way it was.. seems reasonable to me.

How Maps Progress Through the Foundry wrote:And in the main Foundry forum the process will stay relatively normal. All maps will need to create good working images of both the large and the small maps (following the guidelines of course). Each map will go through the Foundry Process as they have been (I.E. comments/suggestions/advice/criticisms/etc). Once the Foundry Process is starting to slow and dwindle, if all guidelines have been met, it will be ‘Final Forged’ and moved into the next, and last, stage of development in the Final Forge forum.

I've looked back three months and I can't find a small version of this map. Why is it in the Final Forge stage?

The development of this map is an excellent example of why people are frustrated with the foundry process. When a map is moved into Final Forge the announcement made that it may be ready in as little as two days, so people start get impatient. Clearly this map was NOT Forge-ready, but it was dropped here anyway, which inspired the quench-it crew to start posting.

If we're going to have a formal process it should be followed. I request that the Mods move this map out of this sub-forum.

This map has been bumped by the PGD, who believe that we have a pretty good system as long as we actually let it work as intended.

This map went to FF I believe before that was written up. It's been here for a while, as Ruben has been unable to devote as much time as he would like to the map.

True, this was quenched two days before the process piece was written. And I don't mean to put Ruben down. I just wanted to point out another example of the foundry faithful getting impatient to see a map forged/quenched when it clearly isn't ready. There must be a dozen posts asking when this map will go up, though there was never a small map made.

I have made a small version of the map. I have even put it up on this thread so just look back and find it. The map just needs some minor adjustments but I do not have time for that right now.

Apart from that I believe you should mind your own business and let the mods decide which maps should be final forged and which should not. This map has been in development since last December and you clearly have not been following its progress since the start of the process...
