The current time is a perfect storm for the USA beef industry. There is a cattle fly pest that we are trying to keep out of the USA.

Perhaps Trump will earn the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/w ... aza-summitPakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised President Donald Trump at a Gaza peace summit on Monday, describing the U.S. leader as a “man of peace.”
“Peace has been achieved after untiring efforts. Efforts led by President Trump who is genuinely a man of peace,” said Sharif, who added that he’d like to nominate the U.S. president for the Nobel Peace Prize.
https://ca.news.yahoo.com/fact-check-ma ... 00324.htmlFact Check: María Corina Machado dedicated her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5y8y25l250oNobel Peace Prize winner María Corina Machado has told the BBC she is grateful for what US President Donald Trump is doing "around the world for peace".
Machado, Venezuela's opposition leader, was awarded the 2025 prize having long campaigned against the country's President Nicolás Maduro Moros, whose 12-year rule is viewed by many as illegitimate.
She told BBC Mundo that during a congratulatory phone call with Trump she told him "how grateful the Venezuelan people are for what he's doing, not only in the Americas, but around the world for peace, for freedom, for democracy".

Yup, he's destroyed the lives of something well over a million immigrants.jusplay4fun wrote: Trump has already accomplished MORE in less than one year than Biden did in FOUR years.

Hyperbole on nearly everyone of these points. As I recall, Trump is still talking to the Prime Minister of Canada to work out differences, especially as they relate to tariffs.Dukasaur wrote: Along the way, he's trashed hundreds of companies that were dependent on the labour of those immigrants.
He's crashed the world's trading systems.
He's pretty close to having destroyed the dollar, although he might still stop short.
He's succeeded in ending a 120-year old strategic partnership between Canada and the U.S.
He's turned the guns of the American military against its own citizens for the first time since the Civil War.

Some of this is true, it seems. I would argue that many of the charges against Trump were simply trumped up charges.Dukasaur wrote: He's succeeded in quashing his well-deserved punishments for his many crimes before taking office.
He's politicized the Justice Department and set it to persecute his perceived enemies. He's ended all semblance of prosecutorial independence, and is trying hard to destroy judicial independence.

Assuming this is true, Biden accomplished NOTHING. Biden MAY have had a plan, but it never got any real progress under sleepy old Joe. It took the energy, commitment, and Time by Trump AND negotiations and efforts of MANY (nations and persons) to make this happen. It also took Israel (with some US Assistance) to take out other Iranian proxies, making Hamas vulnerable to pressure from Israel. This WOULD NOT have happened without Trump. PERIOD.Dukasaur wrote: He grudgingly agreed to permit peace between Israel and Hamas, in a settlement which his predecessor negotiated a year ago, and which Trump initially quashed on taking office.
Simply more hyperbole. And that depends on what respect you mean. I saw lots of respect in Egypt from the Leaders of many nations when Trump was there just a few days ago. Or were they ALL DICTATORS?Dukasaur wrote: He's extinguished any respect the world had for America.

And now the President of Argentina advocates for Trump to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace. Is he a dictator, TOO? (see my post above on this point, in this thread). And there were ONLY Dictators with Trump in Egypt? or is this mere obfuscation by Duk?Dukasaur wrote:But on the flip side, he's being celebrated by the dictators of Russia, Pakistan, and El Salvador.
https://abcnews.go.com/International/tr ... =126477199President Donald Trump joined more than 20 world leaders in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday for talks on Gaza's future with the first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement underway.
Among those gathered for the summit were Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and former prime minister Tony Blair, as well as officials from Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
You like to throw that big word around, "ILLEGAL" especially in all caps.jusplay4fun wrote:Are you referring to ILLEGAL immigrants?Dukasaur wrote:Yup, he's destroyed the lives of something well over a million immigrants.jusplay4fun wrote: Trump has already accomplished MORE in less than one year than Biden did in FOUR years.
On this point you can rest assured that it's not hyperbole. Yes, Carney is kissing Trump's ass regularly and will eventually come away with some kind of a deal. But we had a deal, one which Trump himself dictated during his first term, one which Trump himself called “the best and most important trade deal ever made by the USA” (ref: https://www.texastribune.org/2020/08/12 ... as-mexico/). And of course, before that we had NAFTA, which Trump tore up for no reason and replaced with USMCA, which he then basically tried to tear up during his second term.jusplay4fun wrote:

Ask yourself, if there's really nothing there, why did he break his promise? Come up with some alternate reason. I'll wait.jusplay4fun wrote:I am not convinced there is A real "List" in the Epstein file. There is NO THERE THERE, no matter how times pack rat says the opposite. Short memory. The Biden-negotiated ceasefire in Gaza wasn't some "plan", it was an agreement that had been signed by both sides and was IN EFFECT at the start of Trump's term. Trump encouraged Nutty Yahoo to abrogate the agreement and caused the war to reignite. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/rea ... p_catchalljusplay4fun wrote:Assuming this is true, Biden accomplished NOTHING. Duk or others can try to allege otherwise. I have seen nothing to contradict this.
