Widowmakers, while it wasn't your idea it was brilliantly executed. Congrats.

As for Coleman, awesome job thinking outside the box.

I wouldn't expect this to appear on the site instantly now that he is back from his trip. In fact lack still reserves the right to completely hate the map and veto its appearance on the site. If he does allow it, I still wouldn't expect to see it playable for a few days.

Some of the schools of thought get along and gain an extra bonus if you hold their signature territories, the ones with the symbols.

Compassion likes Harmony and Inspiration for instance. So if you hold the heart, leaf, and light bulb symboled territories you gain a small bonus.

I see this as both a sneak attack later in the game, and a possible early boost.

Isn't Learning, Mandate, and Peace NOT allied? Shouldn't Mandate be Charity?

If you look at the 8 point star and follow the lines out from Learning you'll see that it connects to Mandate and Peace, so they are allied.

No... They are both allies of Learning though, just not with each other. The 3 you are looking at are Learning's allied symbol trinity.

Peace requires Charity and Learning
Mandate requires Learning and Prosperity
Learning requires Peace and Mandate

So if you had Peace, Mandate, Charity, and Learning you would get +4
+2 for Peace, Charity, and Learning.
+2 for Learning, Peace, and Mandate.

I'm sorry for the confusion.

I'm still trying to understand the need for the -1 on Mind. I realize it theoretically holds a strategic position for reducing borders and attacking through the center... but I just flipped through a bunch of games and the people winning don't appear to need mind to be doing that. In fact, mind's largest impact seems to be in screwing the person who gets it on initial deployment since rarely does anyone bother taking it from them, they'll get -1 on all thoughts for the rest of the game until they lose.

I've started with mind and won, but then again maybe I'm at an unfair advantage. The people I see lose who start with mind seem to use it the wrong way and fort out of it leaving only 1 guy there. Who is going to feel threatened when you do that? They wouldn't even want to decrease borders at that point.

If you have mind you should harass everyone with it, fort into it all the time, let nobody get bonuses until they have the brass to take it from you. Getting a thought is still a bonus. Just not as much of one.

I guess I've never really seen the problem when playing with and against good players. So you get 5 instead of 6 if you get a bonus... Only 4 people can ever have a bonus anyway unless they get allied symbols. You don't get any off of that if you have mind by the way.

I'm ranting randomly, it isn't good...

I sorta see your point... but I don't like it. After my current games on the map run out, I doubt I'll play it again unless I have to for a tournament.

I used it the other day to break a bonus... worked a charm... then someone else took it and forted up... If you hold Mind - you have border protection at the bottom for all of your thoughts... which in the long run makes it easier to spread to another thought seeing as you only ever add 1 border instead of 2...

Guys, I just wanted to drop by and say that this map is graphically beautiful and plays like a charm. Thanks for implementing that -1 suggestion... it really opens up the game. This map is a good standard for other maps. Good job.

Question about the allied symbols...
If I only held Prosperity, Learning, and Mandate, would I receive the allied symbol bonus?
Would I still get the bonus if I only held Coin, Fact, and Rule instead?

The symbol territories are the territories with symbols on them...
