Hm, it still doesn't really show on some of them. Perhaps you could increase the texture on the ones where it shows the worst. Also, even the best ones could be increased, I don't think it shows as well as it does on the regular regions on any of them...
I'm not sure about the layer modes of photoshop, but at least on gimp some layer modes show weaker on lighter colours. Maybe you could try combining layer modes by duplicating the texture layer and setting the layers on different modes, that's what I do when textures don't show evenly accross the map...
Also, you could make all the white colours very slightly off white, this will also help maintain the realistic "paper" feel of the map.

Why did you decide to scratch the buffalo? You only need to fine tune it a bit and it would look awesome! It gave the map some grit that I thought was really needed. What you have now does look classier, but classy is not always good

Because I'm the Bison King. I decided that I didn't want to portray one of my own loyal subjects being mauled to death by Lions.

I'm glad you like it though.

Ok, increased the visibility of the texture and applied the same sepia tone I used everywhere else to dirty up the whites (just a little bit)

I did and I did:
-I added that extra dune between Niger and Murzag
Look at the latest version compared to the one a page or 2 back and you'll notice it.

You may want to shrink the perspective on Spanish Guinea for the flag, the crest will certainly be covered by the army numbers and you can only barely see the red in the flag. Same for Leopoldville, just to see a bit more of the black in the Belgian flag.
IF you wanted to try the flags on a stick again, my suggestion would be to try it so the flags are 3D poking up out of the map's plane and not obscuring the territory preventing XML issues... if it'll work.

Yeah I can do that for cosmetic reasons. I'm not too concerned about the territory's sovereignty being questioned since it is called
Spanish Guinea.

Thanks Dim. Here's a new upload. A few small changes. I changed Bertoua to Tibati, it fit better and it looked like Bertoua was a little south of the region anyway.
Oh yeah and I put Army numbers on the small, for display.

Colored numbers to make sure there aren't any blending issues, and vischeck, please.

And don't forget the versions with the 888's as well!

If you want to start the 888 checks, I will need to update the XML, so we can use the XML tool to generate the images. We'll see how things go this week.

You don't necessarily need the xml to be ready to check 888's At this stage, remember, it's the graphics we're worried about. It's an issue of colors more than anything.

And to make sure the 888's fit properly in each territory, and don't overlap territory names, other numbers etc.

Agreed. I don't think it'll be much in my popular rotation, but the overall visual appeal of the map is up there. It has really started to look great.
Keep of the good work.

If you are hoping to check positioning, then having the XML is really the right way to go. I have what was a complete XML, but it is dated last August, so I will need to review what has changed since then. The partitioning of Egypt and some recent territory name changes come immediately to mind.

Bison, in the legend it says that all landing territories can be 1 way assaulted by any European power. I assume you mean all landing territories can be "bombarded" not assaulted by any European power!?
