I like this one alot better.. still sort of aesthetically unpleasing for some reason... but I'd play it.. or at least final forge it.

i see the background too much, more than the map.

I'd suggest adjusting the contrast on the background, lightening it up so that the map really pops on top of it. Leave it so the background is still noticeable, but it should accent the map not equal or overpower it.

Honestly, this map needs a lot more work to make it usable. I think you need to try find someone who can help you with the graphics.

ok, i made the label + bg meld together a bit, and muted the background

now the background just looks homosexual (gay).

u got any ideas i could use to imrpvoe it? is it the texture of it?

make it very light? i rly dont know.

as in compeltely black and white, no tint, or anything

I like this version, except that the background is too dark.. its stands out too well. You want the focus to be on the map. Take your original background image and use the Hue/Saturation adjustment, take the Lightness setting up to about +50 or +75 so that it fades the background to a lighter grey scale...



The top half is your current setting, the bottom half is with Lightness up +75. It'll keep the integrity of the image, but allows the map to stand out.

I could be wrong though... this is just my opinion.

Heh... now just get rid of the stray black dot, and fix those two white ones to be black to match the rest of the path. I'd say you are done with the look of the map... I make no comment on playability, though I don't see any immediate flaws.

ok, fixed up minor blemishes so its addressed most of the appearance issues (except the homosexuality gavin_sidhu pointed out)



changed the font color for brooklyn, i foudn it hard ot read in spots. I dont' tihnk it looks THAT out of place being the only one w/ lighter colors.

I don't really like the Title or Key yet. You made them black and white but they still seem to stick out way too much from the background. It just looks strange to me I guess because they are supposed to fit with it, but they still don't.

Also, the bridge connections need some work in my opinion. I think you could create soem much better looking ones without a lot of difficulty.

The lighter map is MUCH better though. Now the background isn't taking over the screen anymore

i think the title and key are better off in colour. but love the map, tho i still think you should emphasize manhattan more.

This so makes me want to do a NYC Subway map/Warriors map (based on the movie), or a Gangs of New York old style map with just the old neighborhoods.

The Subway map is already made. See the thread called Going Underground

That's a London subway map, but similar idea. NYC is much less interconnected, I think it's because our subway is older & was built by several different companies.

No, I'm not sure... (looks it up).. seems like London's is older. I always thought NY's was older, which is why it's less organized. Oh well. Anyway... back to the maps.
