Wasn't there a guy who, during the america revolution (maybe the civil war?) sabotaged a dock or something with his sons equipped with broad swords?

i picked swords(which is very general). but a trained fghter with a knife can raise a lot of hell. there's a reason knives have never fallen out of favor and everyone keeps one as back up. and it should be said that infantry was basically still spearmen(with a couple of shots) till modern guns came into play. and calvary swords rule. and laser rifles and dirt bike rule all!
a common saying in chinese martial arts is that "the staff is the father of all weapons and the spear is the king of all weapons."

I think it depends, if you're talking about an action movie or smoehting, than they're all cool depending on the film. I hate cowboy movies, which has guns...but i love Halo3 which has guns (but im also a beast with the energy sword

)
