Only problem with this is, that if you set that at 1 hour, you will have a higher chance to also miss your next turn and are out of the game. So when you are just away for a few days I wouldn't use it. But if you know you will be away for a longer time and don't want to let the other players wait 3 times 24 hours, then this could be a good idea to surrender without taking time for the other players.

this wont work for 2 player games btw... i check my box, and the other player ends the game in real time... furthermore, your chances are less in every game if you check the box iso not doing it (Even with multiplied armies) for your opponets will have made, more turn then they would if your turn took 24 hours iso 1 minute.

the button would be only usefull when deadbeating would become punishable

Ask the other players if they could play slowly until you're back. 2 persons can draw out the time of the rounds to almost 70 hours if they try, so even a one week vacation is not a problem.

Why ask them to play slowly? Not checking the box would be easier...

Great idea.

I for one will even be willing to lose my fortification armies as a courtesy to other players' time

to again rake this one up.

I play on a dutch gaming site also. On there we also have an vacation anrangement. it says: you can have 30 vacation days a year. if you play a game with someone who is on vacation, the game will freeze and will become active again when all players are back from vacation. this can be easily implented in the vacation button. so make the game really freeze (not a kind of auto turnmissing) the only thing is taht you will have to max out the number of vacationdays.

sounds sensible, but maybe increase the number of games by 1 or 2 to take this into account. Also this button should only become active after (say) 4 days as really if you know you are going on vacation in 3 days then you should not be starting new games. A max of about 20 days per year should be awarded to each player.

Would you, could you in a house? (Skip button)

Post by Piestar »

Some people, like DeathScythe30, believe that people who skip turns as a strategy are all rude, vile, and eat puppies.

Personally, I would like to imagine that some portion of you are good sports, simply playing the game.

if so, then obviously you would be willing to use a skip-a-turn button, so as to not inconvenience your opponents.

So, here is the deal, with this poll, I would like turn-skippers only to vote and tell me if you would make use of such a thing, should the powers that be institute such an option.

Okay? Go...

Crud, did the Sully kill my poll?
Sigh...
I was hoping for more votes for my Avatar.
Anywho, since the idea is already on the todo list, should I kill the topic all together? Just curious...

Missed Turns

Post by bspride »

Why dont they have a skip a turn button. It sucks when your playing in a game and a player deliberatly skips a turn so next time he gets double, it penalizes the whole game instead of one player. this would make some games go faster.

but we all know it happens in long games, maybe they should have penalty against them, like -2 armies from their double or something.

Well, if you only count the votes which refer to the 'skip button' idea, there seems to be a clear consensus... of these seven, enough people would use the button to make it worthwhile.

Plus it seems like it would be an easy bit of programming.

It's one of those cool new gator-birds they're breeding in Korea... ahh, the wonders of cloning and stem cell research.

I can e-mail you pictures of some of their other success stories, if you're interested...

early out

Post by Karens toy »

i want my three seconds to wine. there really needs to be a quit early button for people like me that are too dum, but know that they are not going to be around within the next 24 hours. O, and 1 more, i guess i want 5 seconds.
Why is it every other game i see sombody waiting and missing turns so that they can "double up" on the army and through me off my stratigy when they should not PRAISED, for missing a turn, and they still get a card at the end of play??????
I wined enough now, and forget about the time, "I GOT MY TWO CENTS IN" LOL"

hi KT,
Please use the form so that the mod squad will thoroughly review your selection.
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to suggest in the first part of your speech, the second part, about people getting a card doesn't fully make sense because if they miss a turn, they won't get a card.

Skip Turn Button

Post by Fascisti »

There will always be people who wait out a turn or two in order to get their troops all at once.

I think it'd be a good idea to add a skip turn button so that people who use this strategy don't have to
a) Make others wait and
b ) wait all day

I really think it would speed up gameplay and make CC more fun for everybody.
