Well, I don't think that is fair... It makes sense when that is ALL the site is for... But here, I want people to be able to do what they want. It would just raise the calibur to make some changes.

In any case, we can discuss this all later, assuming the clan doesn't become a moot point.

Hahaha... That DID suck, LSU...

However, I honestly have to ask... GT gave you a free kill... Why did you not take me out?

Wouldn't have been fair to the rest of the players in the game. Killing you off would've overpowered the scum while just killing joe blow townie wouldn't have really helped that much so I tried to find a happy median resolution. Even though I had a good defense planned out, there is no guarantee that it would've worked.

Dude, I was completely prepared to receive a PM from GT, and I thought it fair...

You're a good man, bro.

Like I said, my big thing is about fair play and intelligent play. People that want to play stupid I will bitch at and noobs i will generally give a hard time until they stop playing like a noob. Funny enough the noobs seem to like to kill me off at night when they are scum, but cest la vie. I even made my guesses on the scum in spin's game and nailed who it was via pm with spin. I just hope that the two townie type roles I die next in are the mushroom villiage since I am just a backup protown player and the mafia saga since the ppd bit has me a bit confused still and illiad still hasn't explained it to me in a way that I can comprehend it.

EDIT: I accidentally put what I wrote in LSU's quote.

From what I understand, all it means is that the PPD from each person is added up. As soon as the mafia's PPD exceeds the town's PPD, the town loses (much in the samn way as when the actual number of mafia players equal the number of town, the town loses).

oh o well hten that makes more sense. I was figuring it as trying to average that for my win condition and was figuring no way in hell was that happening.

I have to agree with wicked here on most points. I myself have come to love mafia more than risk just like some others may have, but we mustn't forget that in the first place this site is ment to play risk. If you're ready to force those guidelines and/or rules on conquerclub, you might as well just join mafiascum.net and play there instead of here.

Don't get me wrong though, I fully agree with AD when he says there are too many mafia games running. However, I think it's up to the players themselves to keep to a maximum number of games they play at the same time, instead of making up official rules for this. Myself, I like to play 2 games at the same time, sometimes 3. When other games start, I simply don't join them, even if they're themes that I'd really like to play.

If you play too many games at once, you'll lose focus and all games become less fun. If everyone would just stop joining games when they're already active in 2 or 3 other games, the problem would be solved as new games simply wouldn't get filled.

The main problem is there are so many that they arent filling up fast enough I think.

no wonder, I haven't been posting much. Everyone who says I'm not posting much you must realize I've signed up for almost every mafia game here. Now what does that do to my time. ;)

I Argee with AD semi. I do feel that we need someway to stop an onslaught of mafia games happing at the same time, but I don't want a queue, because there are people like me, which start mafia games once their last is done. (Which means my next will start, very soon. Sign ups already closed. )

It would be nice if everyone would play mafia in moderation, but that just doesn't happen, especially with the newbs who sign up for a game, get bored if it doesn't start instantly, sign up for others, and deadbeat through them all, much like new recruits in the non-hasbro affiliated game this site runs.

That said, I'm probably gonna start running my 7 player mafia this weekend and have it invite only.

and diddle, in one they lynched me to get revenge for another one, and in the other someone NK'ed me for no reason

You can't be NK'd for no reason. You just might not understand the reason.

Ya, but it's hard for some people. I know with me it is, because I was able before to join all the games and still have time, but now I can't, so now I'm kinda messed up.

I agree. I was really surprised to see a crapload of mafia games going on right now, and the funny thing is I never saw a chance to sign up for any of them.

I've gotten to a point now where I will only play one game at a time and I prefer invite only.

Anarkistsdream wrote:We need to immediately place a cap on the concurrent number of mafia games going on.

Once the Mafia Mod clan is accepted and we can begin working on stuff, I plan on implementing what can be considered "Official Mafia" games and "Unofficial Mafia" games.

If you run an "Unofficial" one, not only will you not have as many players sign up, but you will piss me off.

This many fucking games at one time is freaking ridiculous, and it is really starting to piss nme off. I have posted three times more than anybody else lately, trying to keep the games that I am in alive.

Good players are burning out and good mods are wasting their great ideas with a bunch of shitty players.

This has got to stop.

For anyone who disagrees with me, kiss my ass. For everyone who DOES agree with me, thank you for having some bloody common sense.

Several people lately have mentioned thoughts on the quality of the games and how the games feel 'different' lately.

While gaining new players is EXACTLY what we want, what we do NOT want is those of you that have played in two games trying to host one yourself.

This is causing too much hassle and people are 'forgetting' games they are in, or just getting bored having to read through twenty pages of posts per day when they are in 5 games at once.

You know, I've been saying this for a few weeks now but no one listens to me...

I lean toward invite-only now too. Most of my games in the future will be invite only, on account of every game I have run publicly has failed.

I have nothing against the number of the games. The more games, the more good players come out from the shroud of newbiehood. The problem IMO is not the number of the games, but:

1. Players who sign in on anything: If you just want to spam around, feel free. But say so in advance, so that the mods know not to count on you for serious games.

2. Big games with an open sign-up list. : The ONLY thing that the game like that can acomplish is a lot of frustration, subing and the waste of time and energy.

I whole-heartedly support Nark's idea of starting a Mafia Mod Clan. Although it will probably be impossible to put a cap on the number of games, it could help the mods greatly in creating their invite lists and updating them on the absence/performance/activity of players.
