I think they are rivers or lakes. So different colours for them

cairnswk wrote:Pepperonibread....lovely update...fonts, borders, sea, background all look good IMHO.

I can see that most people have picked up a lot of changes/suggestions for you.

My main concerns are:
1. not sure if i like the mountains....they don't appear to go with the style of the map.
2. you already know about the western republics colour being too close to the sea colour
3. this is your large version, how will it translate down to the small version at 600 px wide.
4. there is one river bordering the sea that i think should flow into the sea at taymyr
5. perhaps an english translation in small legible font above or below the russian text.

Please. let's see one more update and we can look at moving this into the main main foundry. :)

Thanks cairns. That will all be worked on.

Yes, juventino is right. Some are lakes.

No, but I'll make that river longer to clarify.

recent changes

Like the recent changes. Mountains look good and I like the look of the motto -although I don't read russian. Cool picture of Stalin also. The map looks sharp.

I don't want to say it looks sloppy, because the overall effect is nice, but its a little hard on the eyes when you're looking for details and what countries are

Gimil...thanks for your counting skills.
Unless i am mistaken, and i could very well be since i seem to make mistakes also, there has only been one graphical repost/update of this map, of which as you correctly state 2 are required.

Yes there is clearly support for the map which i readily acknowledge regardless of where that support comes from....and yes i acknowledged that the map will be moved on the next graphic post.

Sorry Unit, most people want the mountains looking less real, or the same as they are now. If there is more support for this, I can change it.

i think this map is great , although the font on the legend isnt unreadable but it is quite difficult to read. Also i disike the small continents like far east. if a player started with all three countries it would be very difficult to win the game. i think there should be at least 5 countries in each continenet, so to not make it very easy to win if you have a lucky deployment

All of the continents have at least four territories. I like them how they are, so more people will have to speak up before I make a change. I will see what I can do with the legend.

P.S.: Everybody, probably no update til this weekend or later.

I think we have a different problem here if Militant saw 3 and there are 4. :(

Anyway, after next update I say we get it out of Map Ideas, if that seems fair to everyone.

I think the reason why militant only saw 3 countries is that the name tag for Kamchatka overlaps the border with the country above it (only slightly - but it's a fairly thin border to begin with). Need to move Kamchatka label down a few pixels (and maybe sharpen that border?).

the islands are now connected, but the inter-island route still goes through purple.

to avoid this, why not make the arctic islands a white continent with a zero bonus, like world 2.1's antarctica? if this is done, then a zero bonus is appropriate because severnaya zemlya and novosibirskiye ostrova both have no permanent inhabitants and, during the soviet era, neither did novaya zemlya, which was a major nuclear test site.
