how did he die? i saw the ending but i had no idea what was going on, only having knowledge of the first halo game.

He got hit by the monitor's beam then after shooting with the spartan laser while it's fighting you collapsed and then when you defeat it he says something like I want to go out with a bang and either dies then or when the arc explodes

Anyone else got the damn legendary ending yet? Its 47 seconds extra and the first time, and only the first time, theres a damn little flash of what looks like righting in the middle of the screen for about a second, I think its a date.
