Crickets chirped throughout the night as everyone slumbered in their bed. Water lapping at the beach on the lake, nothing seemed to be moving. Grass swishing as a group appeared in the black of night and snuck up to a house on the outer edge of town, where they encountered a pair of roommates sleeping in their bed. The night turned deathly quiet, not a sound coming from outside when one of the roommates stirred awake and opened his eyes. He saw the figure above him and let out a muffled scream as the knife fell down into his chest.
Kenny McCormick, Town NPC has died.
Once the first victim was dealt with, the group moved from the bedroom and into the living room, where they found the other roommate with a box of pizza still on his chest, snoring away. A smirk appeared on his face as he lifted his knife, blood still dripping from the blade from the previous murder, and knife fell down into his chest, killing him without a peep.
Sean Bean, Town NPC has died.
D1 Has Begun! With 15 alive, it takes 8 to lynch. Deadline set for November 15th.

Actually I think NPC's are non playing characters, so they were killed probably by some other NPC's. It doesn't have to mean these were a faction kills or that there is someone who can kill only NPC's. Not saying it's impossible, just improbable.

If we are going to read into the scene i would guess that scum have a doublekill ability vs multiple factions because it said "the group moved on"implying the same killers for both victims.
I thought it was just there to facilitate the Sean bean joke though honestly.
