Harry flipped through The Daily Prophet as he reclined in his seat. The front page had a large headline reading "Is Dumbledore too old to be Hogwarts' Headmaster?" over a picture of confused Albus Dumbledore.

Ron looked over at Harry and said, "I can't believe you read that rubbish. Everything Rita Skeeter writes is nothing but lies."

"I just read it for a laugh," Harry replied, not taking his eyes off the paper.

Hermione gave Harry an incredulous look but decided against giving her opinion this time.

They sat aboard the Hogwarts Express as it rushed through the countryside, carrying nearly ever student enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was a sunny day, but suddenly there was a flash of darkness in the window that went as quickly as it came. The three looked out the window and saw the source of the darkness: Death Eaters. They were flying alongside the train, going towards Hogwarts as well.

Before anyone on the train could react, the Death Eaters were gone. Stunned, Harry thought to himself: he's back. Voldemort is back.

Day One Begins.

No Deadline. With 24 alive, it takes 13 to lynch.

I'm not a Harry Potter expert, but did Hermione ever decide against giving her opinion?

Anyway, in my experience*, 100% of the time the first person to vote is mafia, so Vote MudPuppy

Because there was never any mention in this thread that the mafia are called Death Eaters here, so only a Death Eater would know that.

So with 24 people, what are thoughts on what we might be looking at with a set up? Flavor would suggest Death Eaters are the baddies, but they were not the only anti-Harry group in the series of course.

It's been a while since I've read the books, but I'm just thinking out loud that this is a big ass game, so i expect multiple killings and some other tricks. A 2nd mafia doesn't fit in with the flavor to me, but anybody smell a cult?

Being as "recruitments" is included in the night actions in the rules... seems pretty likely there is a cult. This is one huge game, so I can only imagine what all will be included.

I would think with 24 players anything is possible. Wolves and Spiders and Trees and the Centaurs an on an on.Gotta be more then good wizards and death eaters.

Likely town:

Dumbledore
Harry
Hermione
Ron
Sirius Black
Remus Lupin
Snape (possible miller)
Hagrid

I would not be surprised to see one or more of those as fake claims

Likely mafia:

Voldemort
Bellatrix LaStrange
Lucius Malfoy
Draco Malfoy (possible mafia traitor)
Fenrir
Wormtail

Possible SK:

The Basilisk
The spiders

Third party:

The Centaurs
The Dursleys.

The only possible cult I can think of would be The Death Eaters who are also the likely mafia. Of course the mafia could simply consist of Voldemort and the Horcruxes but that seems unlikely.

Vote Pixar for not knowing the flavour, and writing the name wrong.

@Degaston, did you actually skip the opening scene?

confirm.

possible cult; the weasley family, for being such a huge family. and recruiting harry, hermione, angelina and fleur. (joking)
or the order of the phoenix. and if you recruit the wrong guy(s) you die ?

As for your list. strike. does it matter? as far as i see it its not really relevant. only helps with fake claims :P
and there are so many characters that the possibilities are endless. besides this is on the assumption that good guys and bad guys are fixed to their alliance in the book. i dont know otherwise but in storrs game i cohosted we didnt care who was what in the real book/series.

If the scum havent already gotten fake claims, those I mentioned are pretty easily looked up.

Definitely a cult here. Centaurs aren't interested in anything closer than the moon. Probably the Dursleys, maybe the Order, but I feel like they would be town over a cult... or Death eaters, but I feel like they would be mafia over cult. One of the other schools that is in the tri-wizard tournament would make a good cult.
