Re: Politics in Canada
Mayor Rob Ford has done more for Canada than any other Canadian in history. He's put us on the map.

ah come on, Toronto, not talking about some small ass canadian city in the middle of nowhere!
So are they talking about him in the US too? But how did this guy get elected in the first place? On top of being a crackhead, he's like the fat kid everyone makes fun of during recess.

This is unbeatable!
I wish I lived in Toronto so I could vote for him! That is a great line, "I've got more than enough to eat at home!"

Re: Politics in Canada
Priceless! But the worse thing is that a journalist goes "i love that guy". I mean sure, it s a great joke, but a mayor of such a huge city... can toronto afford to have someone like that administrating it? He must be terrible at his job let s be honnest! Are you canadians doing a prank or something? Then on local TV you show foreign TVs reporting this rob ford guy, and you laugh because some other people believed you prank? I want the truth!!

Toronto??? WTF???? I snapped when I saw the girl that ran against him, making accusations he groped her (his political opponent) and called her a 'naughty naughty girl' And looking at this woman, oof, and then they interview people, and they are all crackheads!
this is probably a CIA circus operation providing cover for Obama. According to one Torontan:
I rest my case

I don't feel that sorry for Pam. Rob had someplace he needed to be - when Rob needs to be somewhere, you GET OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY.
When you move to Toronto that's printed at the top of the orientation packet. Don't like it, Pam? There's always room in Vancouver with the rest of the hippies.

Only a tard or a mong would call you a retard or a moron. When it is so patiently obvious you are an imbecile!

I will assume you mean rob ford.
City council doesn't have the power to depose a sitting mayor. Only the Ontario legislature can do so. Currently the Ontario legislature has a minority government which means they could be defeated and face an election on any one issue. The Premier(Governor basically) of Ontario has said they would only do so if Toronto city council could no longer function and if they could get unanimous support from the other parties. Toronoto city council has passed a number of bills with huge majorities which have striped Ford of his Mayoral powers. He's basically mayor in name only and the deputy mayor is the de facto mayor. These measures will be reversed after the next election which presumably will see Ford crushed(Ford is crazy enough to not resign, and is crazy enough to run again).

I don't understand why he doesn't at the very least take a leave of absence until he can clearly demonstrate that he has his personal life in order.
Back to the federal issue at hand, in an interesting turn of events, Nigel Wright and Duffy are accused of fraud and bribery. I'm curious to see what the result will be once the dust has settled. In the mean time, it seems that Harper made a good call in firing Wright and calling for Duffy's suspension.

Re: Politics in Canada
Yeah I like how everyone is demanding for the guy with the personal problems to step down from government immediately because it compromises his office, but other politicians in Canada routinely compromise their office and scam and skim and pilfer and bribe millions, and people are all 'mehhh'
Re: Politics in Canada
Harper is happy with the Ford Fiasco, it's deflecting attention from his conservatives and their illegal undemocratic activities.

1. Wright resigned and was not fired. At the time Harper accepted the resignation with "regret".
2. The move to suspend Duffy+ others came only after they started talking about how involved the PMO was.
3. Documents have come out which show that Harper knew about the "broad idea" for repaying Duffy's expenses. . http://blogs.canoe.ca/davidakin/politic ... om-the-pm/

Last week Rob Ford's spokesman said, since he only has ceremonial powers left, he is spending 2 hours each day working out. Now today, this ...
A trainer who consulted with Rob Ford as recently as Tuesday night on a health “game plan” was convicted in the U.S. for steroid trafficking and is currently in the midst of a 12-year ban from coaching in Canada for administering steroids.
