Not knowing where Hong Kong is, tut tut. Maybe looking at maps and not relying on tools will help your geography ;-)

How about spoils above the map, chat below? In any team game chat is surely the most integral feature. This way the map is centralized and a whole screen can display either cards & map or map & chat - everybody wins.

For teammate spoils, I'm fine with putting them by their name. But for my spoils at least, please keep them right under the map.

I agree with this 100%. I love the fact that I can see my spoils easily and without scrolling. Moving them down to a place that I almost never check would be really bad.

Yeah me too.

Love the idea of being able to see teammates spoils, but I really want mine close to the map - particuarly for speed games.

Many of us already have something like this, because BOB allows us to put "Chat on top". Maybe someday a major site overhaul will break the page in sections that we can place where we like. Heck, even having a tab feature would be nice, so you could choose what blob of data you want below the map: chat, spoils, statistics,... hmm, sounds like a separate Suggestion.

lack please i dont want 2 sound bad but there are other issues that you could use your time coding ex....

adjacent attacks
allowing pms for players on bans

if people want the share spoil script let them use this

i know they have 2 hit the spoil button after each shot but that is a fair enough thing to do if you want it.

 I know where Hong Kong is, of course. I have no problem with placing countrys, but I don't know the specific geographical regions on the Hong Kong map. I'm pretty sure that goes for most people on this site.

Definitely a good feature. Tired of wasting team chat time trying to communicate who has what kind of cards and when! Default to displaying everything is the best idea: you always want to know your own spoils situation, and that includes teammates in team play.

Just to throw my 2 cents into the ring, I do not like the update.

1: on a large map, as in World 2.0, I feel that it is easier to visualize the locations of your cards with them directly under the map.

2: As far as the escalation counter, that also should be located near the cards. The way that I have my screen set, I would be scrolling up and down quite a bit, every time that I had a set to trade in. And with nuclear, it would be even worse.

3: As far as having your team mates cards shown, I am fine with that. When I play a team game, I will usually make at least one post a turn as to what cards I have in my hand. I usually don't mention the countries, but it only takes me a second to type in "2R, 1B, 2G" into the chat line. The purist in me say no, since in team games in real life, you are not supposed to look at each others cards, but I can live with it. Course that might be a house rule.

I prefer having the spoils at the bottom of the map.

I like the convenience with BOB of being able to highlight the spoil location on the map. But more so, with the spoil displayed right next to the map, it's easier to find the spoil location on an unfamiliar map. This is important on a large map with many territories. Additionally, it's especially useful with those maps whose territories' names are in a language I'm not familiar with or are simply made up by the mind of the map designer. That's not the same as knowing where Hong Kong is on the basic, original map.

As for being able to see a teammate's spoils, I don't really see any advantage over using chat to tell each other which spoils you have. The entire team can read the chat comment, and no one talks about spoils until they have some to use or a critical turn has occurred in the game.

I vote no at this time.

i can see my spoils just below the map, which is usefull to check where the territ is.
i also can see the spoils of my team next to there names(thanks to Dako)... which is on the right side of the map...

i like it that way...
but i guess i'm not that difficult

i DON'T like them to be in the statistics... to far below the map :D

Just a comment regarding all those using bob to highlight spoil spots on the map. You do know that clicking on the spoil will also give you a blinking highlight as well, don't you? So it's not really absolutely necessary to see both spoils and map at the same time...

It is if one is a bit thick and can't read a map, or needs software to highlight things.

Next thing we know there will be a script that tells you what is the best move to play!

That doesn't happen for me. Do you use Clickable Maps as well?

I tried it both with and without BOB and did not get any blinking highlight. That feature would be nice if it worked for everyone.

I see I am very much in the minority here but I still think something like dako's scrpit would be enough, this just makes things easier for teams that don't talk.

I actually strongly agree with this. I feel like CC is slowly moving towards being less of a strategy game, than a common mindless clicking game. First they added a territ counter and now this? Where does the line get drawn?

lol....I might be off my rocker, but I'm not in one just yet.

I do hark back to the days of Raleigh Choppers, fishing for sticklebacks and Suzi Quatro however!

If teams already don't talk, I can't imagine this helping them *all* that much.

I would love for the site to automatically show team mate spoils - obviously I love scripts and find them useful, since I have spent a bit of time writing them, but if a feature can be incorporated into the site then I am all for it. Why deal with the added performance hit of a GM script, the added headache of scripts having to be updating when CC pages change, the added possibility of frustrations when scripts break because they don't play nicely together?

Also, I think displaying info that is easily available by talking to your teammates is a very long step away from "a program that removes strategy from the game."

Not everyone can use all scripts; so if "show teammate spoils so they don't have to type it" is a desired feature, CC should undertake to program it in.

I like the idea of defaulting team spoils to hide, rather than just showing; makes a player have to look, so lessens the chance he'll misread a teammate's spoil as his spoil
