Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
Spain are clearly #1 in my eyes having strength and depth in every position and world class players and match winners throughout the starting 11. Netherlands are my #2 choice, I think they have a very good squad and with some solid displays they could easily progress quite far. After that I would say Argentina, who have a great squad attacking wise but seriously need a good manager as Maradona clearly is not a good manager, and then a whole host of countries like Brazil, Italy, England, Germany and Portugal who are all outsiders with decent chances of the semis or final.
Exams for me finish this Saturday so I have the ambition of watching every single match this tournament live, with all of the ones after the 28th in HD as well as I get to go home.

I would love to see the Spanish and the Dutch in the final.

Aaaaaaa, the maker of the thread is american, I understand now...
Greece should be an option all polls about anything. I'll see about using my volunteer powers to get Andy to enforce such a rule.

If they win their groups they can only meet in the final. The winner of England group goes into the Dutch half, runner up into Spains half.
I think there are going to be so many huge quarter finals. With form all 4 of them could be "must watch" games, and barring something spectacular at least 3 of them are going to be between just top 8 teams.

I'll join in a couple days, the rules for this like the premierleague.com ones?
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
They're similar but it's a bit simpler. You only get 11 players and no subs, there's no budget restraints (although you can only have 3 players from any one nation) and there are some minor scoring differences

Yes it is. You ask "who's going to win" then give 12 options. Unless they're having a mass orgy on the final day, this is much more about who's going to lose rather than who's going to win.
Just pointing it out.

Rio Ferdinand (England Captain) has damaged his knee in training and will not take part in the World cup.
Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast's best player) set to miss the world cup after fracturing his elbow in a friendly against Japan.

Things are looking up for England, then.
And what did Drogba do? Fall over once too often?

Serves Capello right for dropping Bent and taking Heskey.
Thats hurt Ivory Coast bad, especially considering the group they are in. Still fancy them over Portugal though.

Are you kiddin' ?
Didn't you see how we kicked Italia's ass? (The actual world cup champ btw)
They couldn't even touch ball for 94 minutes.

A term which can be very loosely applied to them....
Who is "we" for you, Mexico?

We made them look slow.. a fast forward, and passing the ball all the game, they got tired of running for the ball.

Ok, seriously, I don't believe Mexico will even reach quarterfinals. It's hard to get to the second round.
But that game against Italy, as long as I can remember, it was the best performance by a Mexican Soccer Team.
