At the end this map has been quenched without trying to improve it, neither changing some names.

Only 'cause Rj said he was abandoning this map, this was enough to quench it.

Honestly, this is very sad: why have we waited all this time?

Simply this is no sense, much better to quench this map half year ago then!

I'm not satisfied at all about the management of this map. (I'm referring in particular to the Carthographers)

Anyway, I'm happy for RJ that could finally enjoy playing his map.

Sometimes emit confused words;
Man crosses it through forests of symbols
That observe him with familiar glances."

maybe one day you will make a map and you'll understand how frustrating the process gets, RJ isnt hte oly cartographer who has consider abandoning his map because the foundry pick out trival issues to slow down the process.

no Lupo its a good thing this map has been quenched because it shows that the new cartographers assistants are willing to compromise with the map makers and this makes me and many others very happy. This map wasn't quenched before during the --- reign when mindless nit picking went on for months on problems most of us couldn't even see but now with coleman and cairns the setup is much much better!

Original Quote from March-15...

RjBeals wrote:Lupo's post was insane. I remember reading it and getting disappointed. I know he/she has strong feelings for the map, and I realize there are few borders / rivers that aren't true to the italian landscape - but it's only a game. It's not going in a textbook. Lupo had a huge post with reference maps and such. Would have almost taken a fresh start to fix some of the areas. I have much respect for Lupo, but I wasn't planning on making some/most of the changes requested.

I agree with you RJ. I love it when a map is authentic but I also know this is not always possible when it involves gameplay as I have tried to do a CC map myself. Lupo probably does not know how difficult it can be as he never tried to make a map.

The only thing I would like to change is that Milano issue I mentioned earlier but I know it would hinder gameplay at this stage since it was not thought out at the start. That's why I say again...

Andy QUENCH this map now!

Lupo - sorry you are happy with the overall outcome of this map. I know you've followed this most of the year, and did take a lot of time to comment. I'm sure you remember, but if you read back through these pages, I did (I'm pretty sure) or another member did respond to all your concerns. I even tried to Pantelleria into an exploded box, Like Hawaii on US maps - it just didn't work. And some of the Territory's borders aren't true, and the names could have been changed, but it just didn't work right for me. As I said in March, it's only a game.

I must say this map is drop dead gorgeous and I'd say, captures the essence of its subject more than any other place specific map on the site. Especially the type and color choices.

well done.

It seems that there is an issue with city bonuses not appearing in greasemonkey.

I took a look into it and found that all city bonuses had a + in front of th number. I though this may be problem so ive PM'ed lack asking if its possible that this is the case and i also attached a tweeked XML without hte + sign.

Posted this too in the bugs section:

I've got a problem. In game 951602, we got a +5 bonus with 3 citta and even 14 with 4 Citta, then listed by greasemonkey to 41 with 5, but we haven't seen that cashed. I think this is a serious problem since now it's all about having the Citta.

For the rest it's a beautiful map.

same problem here. the legend says 3 cities is a +2. greasemonkey says a player with 3 cities has a +5 bonus coming from it.

BOB doesn't understand the new xml. That's the problem, they've been working on a version that does though.

there is no new XML features in the italy XML. rj has made hte city bonuses with every possible combination and jsut used the old continent tag. I was looking into this last night and the problem may be that for all the city bonuses rj put a "+" sign in front of the number. I took these all out and PM lack hte updates XML. hes told me he updated so hopefully bob should be able to read it now.

Wait, wth? I redid the xml for this, it shouldn't be using the old xml.

The old xml is outrageously broken for this map.

http://members.cox.net/gyrigo/CC/Italy.xml <- It should be that xml. His current xml is going to give people 20+ or something for holding all 5 cittas.

I sent mine to lack. :(
