As many people have pointed out, the reason for asking for home settings is to play to strengths. all of the people that vote Yes could be stronger in Terminator games so the vote is not a fair way to make the changes to the settings mid stream
just my two cents
I'll add my own pennies to that.
Thanks to everybody for voicing your opinion about this issue. I wanted to have a vote in addition to written posts to have a feeling about what the lazy players think.
Right now I have enough feedback to decide. I conclude that:
- Players are divided more or less half-half about this issue (56%-44% in the vote now)
- Making no spoils games terminator don't have to make games quicker.
- As some players pointed, flat rate games can take as much time as no spoil games. And escalating can also get stalled if players survive to the point when set are worth 50+ and start building up.
- Making no spoils games terminator is an unfair change mid-way for the ones who did choose that combination. Is removing their best choice to score (as that game is supposed to be the best suited for their strengts)
If a big majority wanted the settings to be changed I was ready to make the change, but as I see no clear majority, and the arguments have convinced me that the change would be unfair (why not make scalating games flat rate because they take too few turns?)
I am not changing the settings.
I know that this can lead to some angry player leaving the tournament, (I hope no one does) but if that's the price that I have to pay for keeping the game fair for everyone then I am willing to pay it.
Actions I will take to speed up tournament:- Right now I am creating a second (or third) game for all groups. Players may join this second game so two games are played simultaneously if they wish, but they are not forced to do it if they don't want to.
- As soon as all 128 players are mathematically qualified, the next round will start without waiting for the remaining games in the first round to finish.
Again, thanks so much to everybody who voiced their opinions and helped me deciding.

Good decision, leave it as it is, at least for the 1st round.
by the way, having escalating cards isn't a guarantee for faster games ; i.e
Game 3992538

I hope you know that NOT having people going into the next game when the previous one is stalled, will prevent players from qualifying...
We can only hope that there won't be too many stalled games

As I see it, escalating games have an initial phase in which the game can end abruptly when someone cashes a set in the right moment and manages to get one or more sets from another player. But after this phase has passed, they can last as long as any other game. Maybe even longer, because when the set value gets too big, continents lose all their strategic value.
Nice sample, 69Chevy!

I think I know

but again is players choice if they wish to play more games. Even premiums members have "slots" in the form of the amount of time they can use to play CC each day.
I won't force anyone to play two games simultaneously (force="you either play or you get 0 points from this one") but if a game gets stalled, then I will strongly suggest the players in that game to play a second simultaneous game.

I was pretty sure we were going in order of elimination. I hope so, as that was the cornerstone of my strategy!

Stellaman already played a game, so I am not replacing him. I will just create 7 player games for that group. Thanks for informing me about that.

There is a partial update of the stats (from groups 1 to 22)
I have created a second (or third game for groups 1 to 15 and 29 to 32)
We have missing groups 16 to 28. I will continue with them tomorrow.

I just wanted to say that Group 22 game 2 is still waiting for players to join even though game 1 finished a few days ago.

Finally I managed to put a new update in place.
4 players have abandoned the tournament, they get 0 points for the rest of the games in the round they won't play.
As usual, updated scores are in page 1. If you don't see the updated tables try using the reload button.

Congratulations on your win!

you are right, group 10 game 2 has not been created yet. Today it was a busy day for me. Travelling from Madrid to Barcelona. I am staying at Barcelona until Sunday, so I hope that tomorrow I will update the tournament (and create some games)
