It's worth noting that 96% of the cases of myocarditis resulting from vaccination were hospitalized. There were questions the other day about direct evidence of vaccinated individuals ever needing hospitalization. Here is an article pointing out a significant (where I use "significant" in the statistical sense and not as a synonym for "large number") number of individuals requiring hospitalization *because of the vaccine*. 98% of those hospitalized individuals had recovered and been discharged from the hospital as of the time of the study, though 2% were still hospitalized, requiring ongoing care. Fortunately, none died.

As with any study, one can draw quite a number of different conclusions from this data. You can use it to say that the most serious side effect of the vaccine has not resulted in any deaths. Or you could say that the rate of this particular side effect is dramatically increased by the vaccine. Let me suggest another approach. The incidences of myocarditis are primarily occurring in people under the age of 25 (roughly 650 cases identified). We know that almost all of those were hospitalized. This study covered the period of December 2020 through August 2021. However, the number of hospitalizations of young people for covid over that same timeframe was roughly 2000 (I can try to get a more exact number if you like - the CDC data tables by age group don't exactly line up for an apples-to-apples comparison, so I'm estimating and extrapolating a small amount here). A reasonable fraction of those were vaccinated. Covid deaths among people in this age group are also incredibly rare.

Again, you can read these facts a number of different ways, and I fully respect someone who comes to the conclusion that the risks of the vaccine are negligible. Personally, I have concluded that for young people, especially teenage males, especially those in very good health with no other comorbidities, the risks of the vaccine are comparable to or greater than the risks associated with covid. As such, we are not vaccinating our kids.

2- The antibody test generated a false negative.

• Apparently this can occur but only occurs about 1% of the time. But maybe I'm that 1 percent.

3 - I had COVID-19 but have already disposed of all antibodies.

• I found a study from November 2020 that said about 25% of people who have mild COVID-19 symptoms never develop antibodies.

My plan is to wait a week and get a second antibody test from a different tester. If that also comes back negative I'll then get vaccinated once Novavax is authorized by the FDA, which may occur in early March or maybe sooner (they submitted their application on January 31). If Novavax is not approved, I won't get vaccinated.
