...that's not much of an achievement. There's far fewer Q players than other letters, and even if you're the last person to survive per letter, you're only 1 of 26 to claim that achievement.

OOps. Yo HA.

went and joined a game doing a lot of checking of the map.

Its only after I join that I look at my list of players Ive played and lo and behold, Ive played Eddy_26 before.

I dont think its going to be much of a problem, but I thought Id mention it. - And Id of course be okay if you chose to nul the game as Im interested in playing and defeating as many players as possible. The game is still before its first turn.

If its not a problem, we'll simply play the game. Promise Ill be headbutting a sharp object whlie we play ;-). Sorry for any inconvenience.
PM me for an invite to Ikariam, a balanced strategy MMORPG centered on a city-based empire. Help and extra resources from me and an extra tradships and a small science bonus to both of us if you do :-)

As HA has said before, he's looking for patterns. Like playing the same person in many rounds or twice in the same round. As long as you're not trading off wins with someone to advance, it's gonna be fine. I did it, too, earlier in the game, and I am also going for unique defeats, so it sucked for me when I beat the same player twice. (Although sucked more for him, since it helped to knock him out of the tourney.)

Quote of the day:
"Good luck--if anyone asks me how many players are left in the tourney I will scream--just join a game and you should know how many are left :)"

Very tempting. I almost cant help myself ;-)

I wont mention names but I have received a pm with the question as a joke already

Why do people ask? I can't understand the reasoning because as long as you're still in it that's what matters. And after you're out you shouldn't care either. The only people who should know and care are the organizers. Are they trying to calculate odds or something? Because I don't think it will help.

Wait...is there a pool going somewhere?

just curiosity I am sure

what do you consider a standard map? and if you had started joining games on the day I put them out the selection of games was huge this round

45 classic were available out of about 700 so it was a decent percentage

agentcom wrote:I'm curious about something, but hopefully someone is curious enough to go and figure it out:

What is the ratio of games played in round X to players advancing to round X? That is how many games should HA make if there are X players at the start of the round?

I don't think the number of players advancing has been published for each round, but it has been posted for quite a few of them. I know we have some stat lovers in this thread. Maybe one of you will check it out.

Also, haven't seen the % of players advancing which usually gets brought up every couple of rounds. Is it still around 82% or whatever it was?

the actual numbers are different than what I make due to all games not being joined.

I have posted the number of players advancing each round--but it may have been a little different that the actual

In round two we had three additional players join due to a password leak--of course they did not get the pass for the next round and were eliminated

How I figure out how many games to make is simple--just take the total amount of players advancing-multiply by three and divide by two--this would give everyone the possibility of playing three games each although they are not all used.

So far we have completed 15,395 games in this tourney.

I can't wait until my 500th tourney--probably won't be as many games but maybe we can get 5000 players involved. It will be a win one game or something a lot more simpler to advance but who knows until my mind thinks of a fantastic idea.

I fully expect players to end up playing the same player as the tourney goes on. It is the ones that play the same player over and over again in some form of a pattern that will end up getting kicked out. When we get down to 100 players I will do a check on all the players left and if I feel there is cheating going on I will punish. If you did not or are not cheating you will be fine.--this is meant for everyone
