ahhhh... that coffee did wonders for my wits... now... jayboy... I'm back with a vengeance...and you can totally forget any hopes of the "title" Mr. mister AND what have I said about winks? Hmmm?

Take that winky, pull at both cheaks at the same time, step on the head and give it a good kick on the chin so it gets a dimple the size of Grand Canyon - put it in a casserole and let it stew for about - lets say only 5 hours (have my be-kind-day today) and then u can place it back here at CC. Then - and only then will I ever tolerate a winky from u! (Augusta chapter 1, verse 4)
PS!
Remember the words of Galile Galilei Jay:
"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use."
Also I think the words of H. G. Wells can be brought forward with great advantage in this thread:
"Human history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe."
The first requires blindfolds to be put down by fundamentalist whether christian or otherwise - the latter for them to stay just where they are.
Something to think about when blindfolds come up again - as I'm sure they will jay

augusta, augusta, augusta..... there are no blind folds on this end. Quite the contrary actually. Remember that old song "Amazing Grace"? I once was blind... but now I see. And ooh do I see!
Now get some rest you seem cranky...

Well I stewed it...and it came out like that >>>
I in no way detest you. I don't even detest liberals in general . I don't like a lot of things they stand for.... but to each their own.
As for my avatar..... thats how I am... "before my morning coffee"

I fully agree!
And so does David Letterman:
Way too much coffee. But if it weren't for the coffee, I'd have no identifiable personality whatsoever

As much as I respect Galileo, I have to disagree with him, neither God nor the bible asks people not to use their ability to reason, or free will in fact there are many passages that state just the opposite, one in particular is 1 Thessalonians 5:21, telling you to test everything. Blindfolds are not neccessary if you wish to learn anything from the bible and anyone who tells you that you need blind faith to believe in God either just want you to listen to what they say and not what the bible says or they haven't taken the time nor the effort to study the passages of the bible, all the questions I have ever had about the bible were answered through research of the bible, I am not saying that there aren't any contradictions, I just haven't found any yet.

I've only read the first and the last page and as of so far I agree with nearly everything you've said, Jay. However, at the least in the part of the first page, I don't agree with how you've presented it.

MUST... POST... ONCE MORE....
I am not saying that there aren't any contradictions, I just haven't found any yet.
here are a couple:
OT god = warlike and unforgiving. Exodus 15:3 - The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
NT: Now the God of peace be with you all.
What were jesus' last words?
Matthew 27 46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" ...Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost."
Luke 23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."
John 19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished:" and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
The bible was agreed upon hundreds of years after jesus died. It was written by numerous authors, collated and badly translated. it is full of contradictions. As a book to live your life by, it has fairly bad credentials.

bad credentials? Scripture says you can know if a prophet is of God by the accuracy of his predictions. (A true prophet of God will be 100% accurate 100% of the time). This has already been touched on as there are upwords of 1000 predictions in the OT that have been fufilled and all 100% accurate. Not too bad for a book with "bad credentials".

Sorry but that is rubbish. Prophecy is, like nostradamus, wide open to interpretation. I predict that tomorrow I will eat breakfast. Spooky!
It's simply not true. Tell me that is not down to interpretation. Like the rapture, or the virgin birth, or the holy trinity (invented around 300AD if i remember rightly)
I'm not dissing it really, i am saying it doesn't have to be 100% absolute truth. That is not incompatible with being a christian.

While reading my Discover magazine, I found something mildly amusing...
Discover Magazine wrote: Map: Evolution Evolving
A very public online fracas
By Susan Kruglinski
DISCOVER Vol. 27 No. 07 | July 2006 | Astronomy & Physics
The entry for evolution on Wikipedia, the Internet encyclopedia that anyone can edit, was altered 2,081 times by 68 editors between December 2001 and last October. IBM's Watson Research Center produced this image, which tracks the transformation. Each vertical line is a new version; each color is a different editor.
1 DECEMBER 3, 2001
The initial version of evolution, 526 words long, is posted by someone with the user name "Dmerrill." It offers links to pages for creationism and intelligent design but makes no mention of controversy.
2 JULY 13, 2002
An anonymous user redefines evolution as "a controversial theory some scientists present as a scientific explanation." Within two hours, it is changed to read "the commonly accepted scientific theory."
3 OCTOBER 1, 2002
"Graft," shown in yellowish green, makes his debut. He will create 79 edits over three years and spend hours hashing out the content on discussion pages with pro- and antievolution editors. A biology grad student at Harvard University, Graft has edited more than 250 Wikipedia entries.
4 AUGUST 9, 2004
A black line occurs whenever the entire entry is deleted by a vandal. (Entries are also defaced with nonsense or vulgarities.) Editing Wikipedia has become such a popular pastime that, even with more than 1 million entries, about half of all vandalisms are corrected within five minutes.
5 MARCH 29, 2005
The entry reaches its longest point, 5,611 words. That evening, 888 words are excised, causing a cliff like drop in the graph. The deleted text, a cynical passage about creationists, was cut by proevolution editors who insist on a neutral point of view.
6 SEPTEMBER 19, 2005
A week before the intelligent design trial in Dover, Pennsylvania, begins, an edit war erupts when "Jlefler" writes that "a strong scientific and layman community advocate creationism." The phrase is removed or reapplied eight times in one hour, leaving a narrow yellow zigzag.

Prophesy is not like Nastradamus. In the OT it predicts the Jews would be scattered.
It happened It also predicts that the Jews would be gathered again back to their land
This happened in 1948 when Isreal became a nation It also predicted Christ dieing on a cross 400 years before crucifixion was invented. (it is not "predicting you will eat breakfast tomarrow morning") That is called a self-fufilling prophecy.

What about the millions of jews living in the US, Europe, Russia... they weren't 'gathered'. How do they fit in?
Nostradamus 'predicted' Hitler, Mussolini, 9/11. You say revelation predicts a nuclear apocalypse, china invading israel - but nowhere in the bible does it mention nuclear bombs or china, for that matter. It is all a lot of subjective arsetalk.
