When I was a kid, I always thought Santa's elves in the North Pole rode around on penguins and walruses as like men rode on horses in the old days to get around. That reminds me, where's the walrus reserve on this map???

Is not just about to get ride off the penguins. Is to make them something accord to the map. The shapes that you think that are the quintessential stylized shape of a penguin is not. Is not even close to a penguin. Your arrogance just blind you.
Try to make a larger beak, or some inkling of feathers, or put some grey or black into them to get a better stylized version. I'm sure you can.
And stop that attitude, disagreeing with something in the map that is not just ""hurr durr theys just white ovals durrrr". Comments like that just make bad atmosphere in the foundry. Is part of the process of having the best version of the map. I don't comment anything else since I found very pleasant to the view the rest of the map

here, which you might have missed with a lot of posts coming in after that.
I am not trying to dismiss your opinion, I am simply of the opinion that your opinion is an uninformed one. Thanks for commenting either way.

Unfortunately, I suspect that different display systems (monitors and adapters) will always lead to different opinions about graphics. What is clear and obvious on a system used by a artist may be lost on a less graphically advanced one.

Well, I do check out my maps on my laptop - which has a really crappy monitor - for that reason. And I don't think that's the case in this case. I think it's more a question of different ideas of what a penguin "should" look like.

You're really good at making maps Natty!! This one is niiice

! And it's a well needed one too! There are maps on pretty much everything but until now we didn't have a map that focused it's gameplay on Antarctica!!! This was one of the themes I really wanted to explore along with a Pangea and a Mars map! Hopefully those 2 will get made sometime in the future

Nope. It's a matter of being able to tell what it is in the first place.
I'll admit it's a bit clearer on the live map, for some reason. Maybe it's just that I know what they are now.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the map. A pangaea map might be something I might do sometime in the future...

Ok, not much feedback yet, so I'm going to open the discussion here with some ideas...
- the autodeploy for the bases could be increased to +2. This way it wouldn't be so easy for whoever first gets to SP to eliminate others - which at the moment, at least on some game types, seems a bit too easy. This would also give 1 more starting troop per base, and thus the start would be less dice-dependent.
- another possibility is increasing the southpole neutrals, but I'm not sure about this...

I haven't finished a game on it yet! But ones I have I'll give you some feedback

If you want to increase the autodeploy to +2 on the bases, I really don't see a lot of difference that would make, but hey I could be wrong.

Well, it would double the income per each base. I think it would make slightly easier to keep a defense on your bases... I could be wrong too, let's just see a few games through before making any hasty decisions here.

There is... what exactly would you suggest? I haven't played any 1v1 on this yet so I don't know how it plays out... I've thought that maybe there should be a limit, but I've been thinking that it would just become easier to eliminate the opponent if there's less bases...
However, if we would combine it with the increasing of base autodeploy to +2, then a limit of 6 starting bases could work...

Yeah, I think increasing the base autodeploy is definitely the way to go.
That way, players would have more incentive to try to hold the +30 sectors/sp bonus, so they'd have enough troops to kill bases...

The connection from Peter I Islands to MBL 1 made me look twice, because there appears to be an impassable glacier along the coast. Yes, it does get thin at the landing point, but it could be made more open and clear like MBL 6. (I stopped to look and see if that impassable was in fact an ice shelf, because the dotted line goes to it, and it seemed to separate the line from MBL 1.)

They should probably do something to block this board from being played as nuclear. It becomes basically a game of luck, not skill at all. You have a hard time capturing the pole when large troop counts can be nuked, and you lose your bases when someone plays a base card, purely luck of the draw!

Should they also block Doodle Earth from being played as 8-player speed freestyle assassins? I'm just saying...
Yes, all game types do not suit all maps. Losing conditions in particular do not work too well with nuclear spoils. Perhaps if we could get an update in the game engine that would prevent losing conditions from being nuked... but meanwhile, you can just abstain from playing these maps with nuclear spoils.
Anyway, as this is an issue mapmakers can't help you with, I suggest you take it to the suggestions forum.
