The numbers are dropping off dramatically now. Most of the new recruits must have finally gone outside and completely forgotten about this place!

Out the front door of their apartment/house/flat/duplex/trailer or wherever they happen live. For me personally, that would be a house in mid Missouri USA. Time to put down the phones, iPads, or computers and go live a little outside!

I have noticed a lot more missed turns by other players in the limited (I am freemium scum) amount of games I have played in the last week or so...and if not missed turns...certainly a slow down in the taking of those buggers.
Some players who seemed to had been very active and in great positions during the games have just dropped off the face of the Earth , I have noticed this when I revisit my finished ones to see if they ever returned the majority did not.
I am presuming these would be ex players more than new recruits in these cases.

CC can't keep its seasoned enthusiasts. It's not gonna keep rookies or casuals.

I still remember how bad your dice sucked in those couple of WWII Europe games. But what if they cursed mine since then?

Cc is just slowly declining, not as it seems. About 3 weeks ago it had 7000 players ranked 1001 or more. Today it has 6700 players ranked 1001 or more. The decline of 3000 players is due to new recruits who joined the site during korona, played a single turn and disappeared.

0 out of 10,000. That is a pretty good score boys!

The numbers went from under 6,000 up to almost 17,000 on the scoreboard.
We are currently at 12,000+ active on the scoreboard.
Stop talking nonsense.

Been around this site for 11 years. While membership has gone down considerably over the years, even in it's peak times CC only ever retained a percentage of signups. If you thought every one or even most of those new members were going to stay, you're the bigger fool. People will sign up, start a game or two, and decide it's not for them. That's always been the way. Some probably won't even wait around for their game to start.

If the site retained 1,000 new long-term members out of 10,000 signups, that would be a 10% retention rate and exceptionally good. But for ANY website, the reality is that the long-term retention rate of users is often much lower. People have short attention spans.

Scroll up and read Josko's post same day as yours! He said 6700 users. You say 12,000. That is quite a discrepancy. Either way, I am using Josko's numbers.

Josko said we were at 6700 users. It was my understanding, that pre-covid, our numbers were around 7000. These are very similar numbers. Or to quote myself, on "par".

And then here you are, you want to compare your 12,000 rocks with our 6700 apples and 7000 oranges. Well at least comparing apples and oranges they are both fruit. But when you bring your dirty rocks into the trade all you can expect is apple sauce.
