This game is the fist of a 5 game stretch in 3 weeks. First Scotland, then Brazil and Canada friendlies, then joke WCQ games against Antigua and Guatemala. Don't expect a full A team this game or any of the others (maybe Brazil).

Lineup (4-1-4-1): Howard; Fabian Johnson, Bocanegra, Cameron, Cherundolo; Bradley; JF Torres, Jermaine Jones, Edu, Donovan; Terrence Boyd

A good mix of young and old. I'm glad Klinsmann is taking advantage of his knowledge of the Bundesliga by convincing Jones Boyd and Johnson to join. Expanding the national team player pool is a project Bob Bradley did well through MLS, and Klinsmann is continuing this project. By 2014 we will be a very deep team.

As an aside, USA has the best shirt ever.

I can't stop laughing at how horrible both anthems sounded.

WOOOOO!!! USA! USA! USA! :D

The day Tim Howard retires from international football will be a sad day indeed. May it be far, far away.

Horizontal stripes? Um, not for me, thanks. I like the old kit better. Plain white shirts that let our football do the talking. :D

Man we are bad. No chance we are qualifying for the world cup until we learn not to give the ball away every 10 feckin seconds. Highlight of the game so far is Brown kicking shit out of Edu. Ah well, such as life as a Scotland fan lol.

p.s. What was up with the anthems? Ours was played far too fast (and not even sung) and your anthem was sung so badly, who the feck was that?

I don't know who this Celtic player is, but he's been playing horribly. All I've seen from him so far is hacking at players' legs.

4-1 :D a hat trick for Donovan in the 65th minute

Brown is em passionate :D He was probably our best player though, at least he was giving a f*ck about the game.

Terrible terrible performance but then what's new, congrats on the win. Your team seemed organised and athletic, still think you are a fair way short of the top 10 or so teams but you'll give any team a game on your day.

And Jones makes it 5!

As Jon Champion would say: "It's not a contest, it's a procession - and they're all trying to get in on the act now!" :D

Donovan is such a great player, but it sucks that he prefers a nice life in LA to a great career in Europe.

Recently, he's changed his mind. He wants to go back to Everton.

Surely it has nothing to do with LA being in 17th out of 19 teams in MLS. Definitely not. Nope. Nothing to do with that.

He can do better than Everton, if he had stayed he'd be in a top 3 team of any big league.

Oh, yeah you're definitely right. He practically made it onto the Bayern squad when he was a trialist in 2008, but then Klinsmann and the Bayern board got into arguments. Klinsmann was fired and since Donovan was one of "his" players, he was gone too.

In other words, Donovan should be a starter for Bayern right now.

Sergio Pizzorno take a bow!! Scored a sensational goal tonight, but England were the better side and deserve the 3-1 win!!

Soldado out and Fernando Torres in for the Eurocup.

I respect Del Bosque a lot for what he did with RM but this is not ok IMO, Soldado did great things in the last Liga.

I don't get that either.
BUT, Pedro. :D
I love how, for about as long as I've been following football, 75% of the Spain squad has been players from Barcelona and those pigs from the capital.

I watched it, I was of course supporting the Rest of the World against England as usual for all major football competitions since 1998

I also refused to donate via the phone line with such a shitty number ;) Seriously though I like these games, it's a good laugh to watch Clarence Seadorf close down Paddy McGuiness and it is all for a good cause.
