That's right - Hera tends to pop up in DC comics, usually in plot to do with Wonder Woman, and maybe the Justice League. Odin tends mot to Marvel usuallly in a plot involving Thor, and maybe the Avengers.

You're not backing up your viewpoints with explanation, jay. You can't just say "no" and leave it at that.
I believe it rather hypocritical for you to believe in "God" and not "Shiva" or "Odin". Why does your "God" exist and no other?

You can believe it whatever you like. There is but 1 God. I know, not what you want to hear. (I thought the same thing when someone told me New Kids on the Block released a new song)

I don't know what I believe yet. After 28 years of existence, I'm still trying to figure that out.
I've said what I'm going to say in this thread. Good luck to everyone here trying to figure this thing out. I think you're close.

Oh yeah! Awesome explanation there, jay.

Do I really need to explain it? Name one faith outside of Christianity that proclaims Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
(That is why all religions can't be true)

So other religions are wrong because they aren't Christianity? That works with sports, sure, but reality itself?

Jesus said, "I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE, no one comes to the Father but through ME." Now if any other faith proclaims this....they are "right".

I have always been interested in why people of faith believe what they believe. this has caused me to read widely about beliefs, covering a lot of ground that has no live believers.
ON a more personal and immediate level I have engaged in long and deep debates with Christians of various shades (Pentecostalist, spiritualists, Catholics, evangelical, JW's, Baptists, one Moonie [who left and joined the Charismatic church: there's an interesting tale about him I'll relate some time], and many more)
Plus Buddists, Zen buddists (are you a Buddist wihtout a Yen? if not, what Zen?), Jews, Mormons, scientologists, flying-saucer people (forget the name of that one), Musllims both Sunni and Shi'ite, Sufi, Church of Satan, (wait, the flying-saucerians are "Etherians" I think), devotees of Native American cults, followers of Castaneda and his Yaqui philosophy, Learyites, Wiccans and witches, Druids, and I'm sure a few more who escape me momentarily.
These discussions can go on (and have) for weeks, or for hundreds of pages of posts (as here). Some have claimed logic or the obvious inherent nature of things to be on their side, as have you.
But in the end, all any of them can say is "It's true because it's true". As an outsider, the fact that this is equally convincing to the seriously-devoted members of all religions is the most compelling argument that this cannot be enough. Telling me to believe in a book because it says IN THAT BOOK that the book is true would make me a believer in Tarzan, Holmes, and Ayesha.
I f in the end your logic says only "my God is the only God because he's God and he says so", then I admire your faith, but am utterly unable to,even imagine the faintest impulse to join you.

Well, when I say the same thing people look at me in funny ways and tend to avoid me, damn unbelievers, I'm planning something hellish for them...

I sort of agree with you but you can also make the counter-point about not believing. "It's not true because it just isn't" is also not a compelling argument. I do believe that there is some creator/god out there. I don't think that something as intricate as our universe just came about by accident. Disorder doesn't bring about order. I have no holy book that I adhere to. It's just something that I reason by looking at how orderly our world is.
But when you get people like Herndawg who go around here casting out 'evil spirits' or whatever is equally disturbing. Some of the "believers" here are quite rational and others are out on the kook fringe. Muslims have actually contributed quite a bit to science, math, and art so I respect that. But they've got their own lunatics who want to bomb the world to hell. I guess what I'm really saying is that with so many different interpretations of who/what God is supposed to be I've just sort of given up on trying to find out as it's too complex. So I pretty much just live my life and hope that the deity sees I'm at least trying. If I'm wrong and there is nobody out there then it's not a big deal either.
I have no problem with people who say "I don't think it can all be TOTALLY random". I can see how you get to there. It's vague enough for me. Once when I was having an operation and they asked my religion (presumably in case I didn't wake up - it happens. happened to a friend of mine in Australia for no good reason), I replied "nondenomenational pantheist". When i woke up they'd written "Cof E" on the wristband.
You know its odd, I don't think I've agreed with you before very much.

This makes sense to me but people like Jay will simply say you are damned, in his tiny World there is only one religion ( his ), no other position can be considered. The consequence of this is millions of people believing that millions of other people serve a false god and are therefore unworthy, it always results in conflict and often this leads to deaths. All of this because narrow minded and emotionaly weak people are desperate to be on 'the right side', to belong to 'the winning club' to support the ' only true maker ' , is it any wonder so many of us despise what occurs in the name of religion.
I woke up last night in a sweat, and there was a glowing golden light at the foot of my bed. A winged woman stepped out of the glow and said, "listen to me, I have been sent from God with a message." I sat up and paid strict attention. She said "God wants you to know that his human creation has failed. Humans are a self-destructive, vain, pig-headed lot. God puts the question to you 'what should I do with mankind." I was dumbfounded, but soon found the strength to speak the truth to real power. I said "Go away, leave us alone, and let everyone know you are gone so that our only choice is to get along or die." A great calmness overcame me and I went back to sleep with a clear conscience.

I'd probably say something along the same lines, although I'm sure that if a god revealed itself it would only create more conflict, despite the message being rather straight forward.

Hmmm, I don't have a "religion". Religion is man made. We are called to have a relationship with our creator. Some will choose to not have a relationship with Him. Or won't be able to because of sin. It is the place of God and God alone to decide who is "damned" and who is not. And as Christians we will be judged on the relationship we have with Him. I don't makes the rules, God does. So if you have a problem with His "tiny world", take it up with Him.

If there is a god, I do have a problem with the "world" she had created. I think only a contemptuous creature would purposefully create such a world. I have taken it up with her, and she is a coward and will not admit to her error. I have asked her to eliminate herself, and she said she would consider it.

Ah well at least we've returned to logical proofs in accordance with the name of the thread.
