ANNOUNCEMENT:We are now more than halfway through the season, and my reserves list is empty. With that in mind, I'll no longer be looking for subs for deadbeats. Instead, I'll be looking through the games on weekends and awarding forfeits to any team that has been waiting since at least the previous Monday for their game. For example, when I look this weekend (1/30), any games originally sent out on 1/25 or before will be awarded as forfeits unless I hear from you beforehand. Also, any team that I deem inactive at the end of the season will be moved to the bottom seeds of their conference tournaments to allow the top seeds to have the "byes" that they've earned during the season.
Keep in mind, all teams that win their conference tournaments gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year! Every conference, except the Ivy League, will have a conference tournament at the end of the regular season, so keep playing, you never know what could happen!

Good luck to everyone in their conference schedules!

Unfortunately this tournament got besieged by a bunch of players that have no interest or idea about basketball...makes it tough especially on the deadbeat front...nice move on the forfeits dowian. I hate going that route, but sometimes it's necessary.

I'll see if I can explain enough to give those of you without a big basketball interest an idea of what's going on...
There are 186 teams in this tournament, but each team belongs to a conference of 8-16 players. Jozza, since you brought it up, I'll use you as an example... you're playing as Georgia, which plays in the Southeastern Conference, or SEC, with 11 other teams. Most college basketball teams play about 28-30 games, with approximately the first half being nonconference games (against teams not in your conference) and the second half being conference games. At the end of the season, each conference will have a end-of-year tournament to determine the conference champion (except for the Ivy League, which crowns its champion based on regular-season conference record). After that, a selection committee, which in this case will be made up of myself, yellow, and possibly amazzony or flex, decides on the best 65 teams in the country to participate in the NCAA tournament to determine the national champion, as well as the next 32 teams to play in a consolation tournament called the NIT.
ALL conference champions get an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament, so even if you're 0-28 in the regular season, you can win your conference tourney and qualify for "the big dance." The winner of that tournament gets crowned national champion, or, in our case, the Conquer Club tournament champion!
Hopefully I didn't lose you... to be honest, I'm not even sure you cared that much... but if it did pique your interest, I figured I'd see what I could do to help! Any other questions, feel free to shout them out and I'll see what I can do to respond

FYI..
You might need to send out reminders again now too because the way you send out the games invites, the message deletes after 24 hrs. So if a person doesn't login they will miss it. I see I have a game out there now but don't have an invite for or the password.

I'll do my best to send out reminders to those who have games out there. However, just so everyone's aware, keep an eye on the date on your game when you're looking it up. I try to make the games for the next batch in advance, so any game January 12 or before is from Monday's (or earlier's) batch. Any game from January 13-16 will be sent out tomorrow

Sure, I've got you marked down - the change will be in place as of Monday's batch, as I've already made tomorrow's games. I'll allow map/settings changes until February 1 on the schedule, but after that, they're set. (No maps that have been released since the start of the tourney, please.)
