Detterring from getting Premium is a problem, I guess, though I think the deterrent is more a case of postponing Premium rather than not getting it. - Id venture the point that a tournament such as this keeps up the action and to some extent keeps players in the game on an active level, which will in the end yield a positive effect to Premium buying. There may also be some freemiums that find themselves without a slot to play the tourney in because all their games took longer than expected and thus find themselves getting Premium to be able to continue the tourney.

Its impossible to say for sure what the end effect will be, but I think that if there is a negative effect to buying Premium its likely neglible.

As for the definition on when a freemium is freemium, its of course up to HA to determine, but the freemium medals/prizes are seemingly there for the newbees and the players that get far in the tournament in spite of the extra challenge of 4 slots. - Its not a major disadvantage, of course, but still...

As I read it, its hard to call it differently than you are a freemium player if youve been a freemium player for the entire tourney and otherwise a Premium. - Possibly excepting Premium time that the player doesnt have control over, such as referral time. But its going to be hard enough to call without exceptions ;-)

And they'd probably be pretty pissed at HA if he effectively rewarded action that deters paying for premium (which in turn pays for all the games that all of us--freemium and premium alike--enjoy). .... Especially in a tournament that is GIGANTIC like this one.

It might be a deterrent, but a really tiny one. If I want premium, the certainty of getting many benefits (more than four games is enough attraction for more people, but invites, speed games, and many other benefits) is certainly going to outweigh the tiny chance of getting a particular medal.

Just trying to put it in perspective.

I feel the same way as Dukasaur. I've always seen GA medals as something neat to get, but I'm not going to go freemium for the chance to get an extra roman numeral on the little picture under my name.

I always play 3, and I always try to play maps I haven't won on yet (or random maps). I figure I'll be here until the end, may as well try for a few bounties along the way ;)

Wouldn't the last standing freemium player be more interested in the free membership prize for top 3 than the GA medal?

Picked my third game with a player with a score about as low as mine, just in case I could catch a break that way. - I suppose I did, 'cause he recently missed round 1 and 2. - Its a slow starting map, so if he shows up, he could still turn it around, but even if he does show for round 3, I obviously have quite an advantage. I of course expect and hope to win it and save my continued presence in the tourney. - Its not much of an accomplishment, though. So... I suppose it still counts as a win even if my opponent deadbeats, or should I play a replacement game of some sort at some point?

all games count

I should have a new computer Saturday--well used but at least have one--I will just leave the games up until they expire and we will start the next round when all the games are completed

Just realized my premium is set to expire, and I can't get it again. Highlander, I suppose I'll be forced to drop out of this tournament since I will not have an open game slot, is this correct?

Like the title says, "Round 7-approx-June 28th"

I know we all get in the habit of coming straight to the end of the thread, but many organisers including HA will edit the first post of the thread and give you important current information.

Yeah, I know. I'm just hoping someone takes pity on me and gives me premium :)

I really don't want to lose out in this tournament!

Well, 30 games are a lot when moving into freemium, but you only have to make it to 3 active games. Finishing 27 is a tough order, but you do have time. - Probably about 2 weeks or so, and if you get close, HA may be nice enough to give you some sort of further chance, for example including you in end of round matchups even if you arent quite there.

I suppose you could have a hard look at your games and see if some are already doomed, which you could then play full a full risk strategy in (either getting you back into the fray or getting you eliminated.) In any case, I wouldnt give up on getting to 3 active games before the end of round 7 just yet ;-) Good luck, m8.

@dukassaur: omg, i am such an idiot. its just the opposite, i never go to the last page. i just read the first page where HA posts updates. i sadly, though, did not read the title; just the body.

sorry for clogging up the forum. been busy and my focus has been lacking. (as those who have played me might have noticed)

ok, i go join another game!

good luck everyone!

Good advice, however:

1) I never give up
2) It will take close to 3-4 weeks for these games to clear, as they just started last week or this week
3) I won't ask an already stressed out, computer-fried guy to give one of a thousand a break.

This is going to be hard....

TheFlashPoint is taking his talents to South Beach. He is going to win not 5, not 6, but 7 of the GA medals on offer in this tourney.

TheFlashPoint, out.

Playing a high risk strategy isnt giving up ;-)

In any case, sorry. Seems I swapped Sirsebstars name in for yours. - 40 ongoing games for you. Tall order to get rid of 37 in time. In any case, good luck m8
