Down to three for two in Foxtrot with 2 games outstanding.

Maximum of 16 more points for any of Xiao, Sun Tzup and Nash.

Xiao has 386 points secured
Sun Tzup has 380 secured
Nash has 376 secured.

If Xiao eliminates Nash in any game she's through, he's essentially out

If Sun Tzup eliminates Nash from any game he'll need to secure only two more points from either game to advance, Nash would be out

If Xiao eliminates Sun Tzup, she's through, he'd still have a chance of 4th

Nash needs to eliminate one opponent in both games, if Sun Tzup he'd then need 3 more points, if Xiao he'd then need 8 more points.


Best guess is that Xiao will advance shortly. If anyone were to suicide into Nash it would essentially eliminate him from the competition (given his early targeting of one player this might be tempting given they'd be in the same group next round).

Is taking out a trouble opponent fair game guys given that the people who advance would still be together, or would it be frowned upon?

Happened in MB IV. Jondolar suicided into Hath in a bonus game to ensure I would advance and Hath wouldn't, as he (rightly so) considered Hath the more dangerous opponent. Hath was 'not best pleased' by this, and there was some contention over it, but I don't think it broke any tournament rules.

As it turned out, Hath was called in as a reserve for round 3 anyway, and went on to win 28 games in that round. However because of the points distribution, he only came in 6th in his group. That's one reason for the change in scoring: 10 points for 1st. It's still skewed to players who play safe, but not as bad.

Of course, the highest scores and easiest advancement in MB IV was by the player who didn't do anything -- he just placed his armies on one spot and didn't take a card. He easily made it to the final round, where he was systematically taken out by all the other players. Kind of spoiled the tournament for a lot of people. That's the reason for the 'must attack and take a card' rule.

I think mathematically 5th place can't catch me anymore in Delta. Whew, because I'm on a horrific losing streak in the last 20 or so games.

I think I'm now guaranteed through from Hotel group so I'd just like to say thanks to the others for making some great games. It's very tight from 2nd thru to 5th so someone will be very unlucky not to progress.

I'm pretty sure the top three in Delta are through. No. 4 is all but set, but I still have an outside chance of catching him.

Hopefully, if I don't, someone will drop out and I can go through as an alternate.

Hard to believe as it is, I took first place in Golf amidst some nailbiting games. Considering how poorly I started out I'm not exactly sure how I did it. Interestingly, although my rank climbed at one point to Major and fell at one point to Sergeant I ended up exactly where I started. There were a number of excellent players, some of which didn't survive the round, and I want to thank everyone in that bracket for quick turns, excellent strategic shifts, and especially for the good sportsmanship displayed throughout. It really made for a fun few weeks. Thanks all! And especially thanks to the moderators for continuing to make this the best-run tournament on CC.

Still have not worked out how I can go from no 63 seed (only getting in with a wild card win) to heading the group - a lot of good dice, I guess!

That you did; I think most of my wins were the result of your and Jug getting bad dice, not being able to finish people off, leaving them open for the slaughter. My dice crapped out on me in the end though. Was a blast, can't wait for MB VI

I'd be willing to throw in, although I'm not sure what the rules on eliminated players are. I did just miss getting into round 2.

Congrats to my fellow Charlie Group-mates moving on--the four eliminated players put up a darn good fight.

It's a crapfest I didn't make Round 2, I ended up winning on virtually all the maps I hadn't won on yet.
